Well that's a huge surprise that we decided to load the main list with deep picks rather than use the rookie list. I'm not really a fan of it, but I guess it should be ok.

That leaves us with one rookie draft pick to go tomorrow.

Great that we drafted for needs, I have no idea on the players, but coming in if you told me we'd get small goal kickers and wingmen I would've taken it.

And we're left with a 2nd and 3rd pick for next year. I guess 4th round picks are basically worthless anyway, at that point it's all scattergun and you probably get who you want, plus we have FS kids on the radar, so it should work out alright.

Good draft for us given the hand we had. Selected a couple of talented small forwards and a wing/mid to fill list gaps.

Good luck in the future lads, some hard work ahead.

Poor old Philactides shaping like a spare one at a wedding

Small defenders who can't defend will struggle to get picked even with an impressive athletic profile

Will Lorenz: Height 186cm

A lightly-built wingman or forward who produced some eye-catching matches last year including an under 17s game against Queensland where he had 32 disposals and kicked three goals to begin to build his profile. A left-footed kick with good speed as well as a neat step through traffic, he mixed his football between Marcellin College and the Oakleigh Chargers, averaging 19.4 disposals in seven matches for the latter. At representative level he played for the Australian under 18 team in their matches against Port Adelaide (SANFL) and Carlton (VFL) as well as playing three matches for Victoria Metro averaging 19 disposals. Tested soundly at the national Draft Combine with his 3.06 seconds for the 20m sprint and 6:33 for the 2km time trial both solid performances. He is the grandson of former Hawthorn premiership captain and AFL Hall of Fame member Graham Arthur.

I’m stoked with those three picks, drafted purely for needs, both of these guys are pressure first but have proved they can hit the scoreboard. Our entire game is based on forward half pressure and they hit the need with two players. Creates depth and pressure for spots which we didn’t have this year with those small forwards. I like the option of picking a wing too with Duurs going out.
