So we’re currently on track to draft 2 top 30 draft picks in a 5 year window, which might either be a record low or damn close to it, and I suspect the ones close to that were teams already winning grand finals.

Anyone actually know what the fewest top 30 draft picks in a 5 year window might be?


Also the 2 top 30 draft picks are a limited back pocket (jones) and the injury riddled sinn.



I know we’ve brought in jhf in that time but you really need to be adding much more talent than that across that time or you end up in a massive hole list wise.

Not sure exactly but off the top of my head Hawks would be the only challengers, having 3 between 2009 and 2014:

2010 pick 19 Isaac Smith
2012 pick 28 Tim O’brien
2013 pick 24 Billy Hartung

What you say is certainly possible, and at the same time a drastic mistake.


for instance our very thin magpies midfield that relied on top ups to be remotely competitive (a top up player was one of our better more reliable starting centre mids lol)

and from that we’ve lost dumont and have no mids coming in.

There's always a couple who you think should have been picked up but weren't.

You look at the SA draft combine and make cases for a few players there.

Not many of these players are getting picked up.
