Interestingly North Melbourne used a pick on Taylor Goad from South Adelaide. The last player they drafted from South did not turn out well for them. They also used a top ten pick on Zane Duursma who may one day feel the need to play along side his brother at Essendon.

Adelaide on the other hand passed up the chance to take Goad and went with a West Australian who did not look overly rapt to be heading to Adelaide plus they took two Victorians and down the track they will probably wonder why they cannot hold onto players.

North used the pick from us to get Goad too.

Our pick should fall in next 25, apparently Brisbane, Freo, GC, Hawks and WB will all pass atleast once before our pick some of them may pass on 2 of of their picks.

What would I do if presented with this situation.

1. I'd tell Stinkers to STFU and not do anymore trading unless its a JHF situation.
2. Lets say we want 3 players Visentini 2.0, Delean and Fawcett.
3. I wait until 3rd Round and offer Western Bulldogs our future 3rd for 45,47 & 58 if they are going to pass they might bite. If No
4. Ring Gold Coast and offer the same 3rd Round pick for 51, 54 & 56 If No
5. Ring Hawthorn and offer same future 3rd for Pick 52 & 53 and hope one lasts until 62

At least we may be able to pick the players we want not be left with whoever is left.

We could lose the future 3rd if none of these guys are going to get picked up that's the downside. We should have never got into this situation.

But our picks will come in when other clubs start passing. Effectively this is trading a future 3rd and the last pick in the draft for the 5th and 4th last picks in the draft.

If we have the son of a former player who is on salary committing to Hawthorn we might as well hand back our license.

People need to remember we will enter another period of compromised drafts soon - (even more compromise than this), with Team Tassie and probably Team 20 coming into the comp in the next 10 years. Now is the time to be taking youth not going for a Hail Mary with Hinkley of all people.

Actually I'd be taking a punt on Francou being a late bloomer. There is something about his ball handling that I like a lot. He needs to learn how to get the ball more.
