Unless we rookie list Sloane …..

Jokes

Yep done and dusted . Now picking Borlase and Hammill in the rookie draft
We actually drafted a defender we didnt think was possible when we promised Borlase a spot, this would be the very thing that would make the club change its mind re rookie selection.

Curtain ready for round 1 doesn't make it better for Borlase either, he might be on the phone with his manager this morning, a bit more open to an interstate move.

The morning after the night before, and did that really happen? Excited to see Curtin, Edwards, and Ryan developing our system over the next few years.

Ogilvie and Reid have earned the night off. So glad I don't have to sit through another night of the draft. 29 picks took 2.5hours ffs.

Love the Curtin trade. Ballsy move, but when you consider our 2nd (or was it Melbs?) will be just for points next year, a very low risk move, with a massive chance for huge payoff. I didn't get McAsey vibes from him at all. But we shall see.

Was super disappointed when the charity club took Goad, but then he said he has a girlfriend here, so if we can use that down the track, it'll be nice. Edwards looks a ripper lad. Plenty to work with there.

Ryan came out of left field, but looks like a Brodie clone. Can understand reaching for him here, as maybe nobody put a trade on the table that was worth it.

Overall, can't wait to see these kids develop. Have a sneaky suspicion Curtin will be lining up R1.

Great interview on MMM with Daniel. Spent a lot of time in Adelaide in his younger years - lived here when he was 1-2 years old and then was a regular visitor until he was about 6

Has family here as well. So would imagine there is no Anti-Adelaide sentiment to deal with which must help with retention

If Curtin turns into the player we think he could be - he might be one of the best from this draft.
I'm imagining Curtin and Dawson rotating between half back and midfield. It would be incredible.
Reckon Curtin could easily slot in at half forward too...good size, and his highlights suggest he's pretty flexible...(thinking here is that Muzz comes good - hopefully, and I think we have enough defenders besides him).

Answered this the 1st time you asked last night, good wheels, tough, aggressive both physically and with his ball use...metres gained type and not frightened to go corridor with that aggressive ball use.
Yeh sorry about that. Don't know why it double posted once I logged in again this morning. Tried to delete it, but you must have got in too quickly.
I watched the highlights this morning. Kick looks really good. Penetrating but also able to place the ball out in front.

MMM Adelaide?

Curtin looks like the Butts replacement. Muzz (when he's fit) and Curtin (when ready) should be elite together. Keane/Butts as backup. Woz, Max, Hinge as the interceptors. Smith, Milera, Ryan, Jones, Nank as the runners.
Feels like we have our defence sorted now for the future, forward line is just about there once Welsh is added.

Next step is to finish off the midfield and add a ruck.

Not many glaring holes left now in our squad

I think there will be a fair shedding of players next year. We should open a book.

Must be block-out curtains. He needs to have a good fend off.

Justin Reid has become a very astute wheel and deal operator. First few years he played nice and won a few friends in trade with fair and smooth transactions.
Now he has the respect to compliment that shrewd somewhat ruthless Reid attitude to pull the curtins down .
A+

Curtin & Edwards sound like they will be really good players, and meet our needs perfectly. We're drastically short of both KPDs and KPFs, and Curtin is able to play at both ends of the ground - with hopes of eventually moving into the midfield. Edwards sounds like the "big bodied midfielder" we've been crying out for them to draft for years (and his interview was VERY impressive).

I don't know enough about Ryan to comment.

My only issue is that we have, yet again, failed to draft a ruckman - and with both of our rookie list positions already committed, we won't be grabbing one in the RD either. ROB & Strachan are both 28, Himmelberg is expected to depart via FA next year, and that leaves Thilthorpe as the only other ruckman on our list. The 2023 draft was apparently strong on ruckmen, and this is clearly one area of desperate need. Failing to draft one this year could well hurt us down the track.
