Where does that put their list?

??? We didn’t have a pick after their Moir selection?Just as well they got in before our next pick lol...
Hence my lol.??? We didn’t have a pick after their Moir selection?
Interesting on the draft coverage now they shifted to carltons room - behind the scene and they were very worried about us taking Moir and when we passed and then collard was taken, they were very please to get Moir
Just have this nagging feeling we will regret not grabbing him with our 3rd pick
It’s amazing reading about all the great drafting on this second night and some by Port.
So thoughts of those who defended the club in not having any list spots in case we wanted to get back in? Mostyn thiughts?
Especially now we have just drafted a gun tall defender who will likely play round 1. Even less need to keep Borlase on the list now.Pan, Philactides, Sanchez, Callinan, De La Rue, Visentini, Rawlinson, Van Rooyen.
Some guys I like the look of are still available, definitely wishing we'd not promised Borlase that last spot.
Look we can go round in circles again about list spots, but if you believe the club thought there was no one worth drafting after 27 when it went 64 deep, well you haven’t been watching our draft history. Clearly if we had a list spot we would have grabbed someone, to suggest otherwise is just head in the sand stuff. Why do you think we want to get back in?
We wanted three picks and we took them.
They could have had more, but we didn't want them.
Things went better than the club could have hoped.
Every year at draft day, everyone gets boners at all these great players still there later in the draft. And yet most won't amount to anything.
Even though he is an elite kick, Schoenmaker’s lack of physicality is resulting in a big slide.
Ultimately the odds we get an 8+ year player from beyond pick 27 aren’t at all in our favour, and I’m not super fussed about it, but it’s for sure one of the reasons keeping Sloane on for one more year is poorLook we can go round in circles again about list spots, but if you believe the club thought there was no one worth drafting after 27 when it went 64 deep, well you haven’t been watching our draft history. The proof will be in the pudding though when in the next few years we can gauge the strength of it. Will you still be holding the line that keeping Sloane for the extra year didn’t cost us? I reckon you will somehow
The nature of drafting is not everyone is going to be a good pick, but we aren’t talking about pick 80 here. We are talking about after pick 27 and drafting isn’t an exact science, it’s a numbers game too. More picks, more chances of getting a player. I still think he's good depth as a pure lockdown defender if mass injuries hit (like it did late in 2023). At least we know he can hold up at AFL level. I think if Petty comes next year though he's pretty likely gone from the Crows.Especially now we have just drafted a gun tall defender who will likely play round 1. Even less need to keep Borlase on the list now.
I doubt all parties would’ve agreed to trade another 2nd to get back into this draft though, given the need for Welsh points, so a trade-in likely comes around pick 40-50 at the highest. Yes you increase your chances of getting a good player out of your haul by getting another pick, but only by a slim amountThe nature of drafting is not everyone is going to be a good pick, but we aren’t talking about pick 80 here. Hamish said we had no scope to pick up a slider if we wanted to, do you think he would have wanted to?
He's not just a defender. He can play up forward and is a bloody good potential to be a tall midfielder. Nothing wrong with thatWhy are we going for defenders with our first pick?
Can someone explain it simply to me.

We picked a HBF, who isn’t particularly special and we don’t really need. We obviously didn’t have any interest in Moir.
A lot of players that become gun mids are discussed at the draft as having played a variety of positions as a junior, which is what Curtin and Edwards have done. I think there's a big difference between drafting a tall that has actually played midfield like Curtin to a high standard, as opposed to just a stock standard KPD like (say) Denver Grainger-Barras
Obviously from here we have to develop them in that role
Also I'm sure we are banking on an elite midfielder developing from a Rachele, Pedlar or Soligo type but again, that requires developing them in that position not pigeonholing them as a forward
Having now taken Curtin and Edwards the issue to me isn't so much where is the midfield coming from, it's more are we going to take the steps to play these guys in the midfield and develop them into elite mids?
I think between Curtin, Edwards, Rachele, Pedlar and Solgio there's enough traits there for a very nice midfield. It won't become one if they are stuck in other positions.
On top of this we should be picking a midfielder in next year's mid-stacked draft with our first rounder
Patton, Philactides, Sanchez, Callinan, De La Rue, Visentini, Rawlinson, Van Rooyen.

Will need to work big time on his defensive side at AFL level as a smaller forward and not the quickest. Footy smarts is his one wood.

We need a HBF, it was always called a great draft for HBFers, and Ryan looks like a great option. He had a far better year than Moir.We picked a HBF, who isn’t particularly special and we don’t really need. We obviously didn’t have any interest in Moir.
