I guess we haven’t seen enough of him to give him a walk-up start.

He might be the long-term Holman replacement as the pressure forward, or could be the Rankine replacement straight up if coaches rate him enough.
Goodo. I wasn't suggesting he should be a walk up start. I reckon every new player needs to prove himself in a new system. If he earns a start and gets a good run of games I reckon you'll have a good fwd/mid for many years. I hope he proves me right.

Really interested to see how our forward line goes next year. When King last played he had day as pretty much the only other target to support him. Often he was double teamed and struggled against stronger opponents. Looking ahead we will have chol, casboult, luko, Jeffery all can offer support. Really going to miss rankine but a great opportunity presents for rosas and maybe Humphrey. Our game plan has also changed since King last played and will be exciting to see what these guys can do with some fast forward entries. Exciting times ahead.

Powell training with boys is a nice surprise. It's reasonable now to expect he will start round 1.
So, what's your defence line-up? Long will start too most probably. I can also see Andrew play round 1.

Lemmens missing out/sub or replacing Farrar or coming off the bench (replacing Flanders)? Powell pushing to wing?
Humphrey could make round 1 too.
Lemmens/Flanders/Humphrey are my question marks in the best 23. Farrar/Andrew could be too.

Farrar Collins Long
Andrew Ballard Powell

Hollands Anderson Ellis
Witts Miller Rowell

Ainsworth Chol Lukosius
Rosas King Holman

Jeffrey Davies Swallow Flanders

Sub Lemmens

Interesting.. has Crab on the field and Luko on the line 🤔
Crab for AA this year?
If you listen to Whiting today Crab improved his strength and aerobic capacity over off-season significantly. Team would like Crab to take on main forward and release Collins and Ballard to do more intercepting. Sounds a bit too optimistic to me. I personally, expect Andrew in the line-up.

I expect Crab to cement his best 22 spot by the end of 2023. He has improved every season, his last half of 22 was pretty good imo.
He has only played 37 games, KPP generally don't come good to about 60-80 games.
He is probably the physically strongest player on the team and has found more confidence every year. Keep him in.

2021 he was playing as a ruck when we only had Smith & Burgess available.

Kid has 4 years now, back him in.

Full time lockdown defender now, show us what ya go Crab

Who’s Jason Gilbee?

Jacob trying to make a comeback under a fresh name?
Believe Gilbee was quite a highly rated potential draftee that ultimately missed selection.
Quite a few on the draft page were surprised no one called out his name.

edit: looks like it was a classic * up and he is actually rookie listed by the GIANTS

That's as strong as I've seen. If Humphrey is good enough then he's earnt it. On paper he looks so good there, can impact up forward, can back up Swallow and Flanders in the midfield.

Biggest flaw I see is kicking out of defence, but with Powell and Weller coming back, those 6 that they've selected look rock solid.

Just about had a melt down when I saw Anderson as the last emergency.

Think Dew will want holman in the team after multiple top 10 BNF finishes in recent years.

I’m fine if Swallow spends more time forward and runs through the mid, effectively taking Holman’s spot; Swallow can kick the odd goal, take a mark or lay a hard tackle. Or Hollands could be that forward too, or Davies, or even Humphrey.

Still, you’re probably right based on his record. But when our team starts rising, players like Holman will likely be the ones to make way—having set the example for a few years.

Yep, absolutely.
Guarantee round 1 holman will be there. Hopefully that competition for spots remains healthy and we see more skilled / talented guys chomping at his heels.

Updated 1st and 2nds with Weller potentially available from round 1

AFL
Lemmens - Collins - Farrar
Long - Ballard - Powell
Ellis - Miller - Hollands
Ainsworth - Chol - Holman
Jeffrey - King - Rosas

Witts - Anderson - Rowell

Lukosius - Swallow - Weller - Flanders
Sub: Davies

Could see Graham come in for either Farrar or Lemmens.

VFL
Uwland - Stein - Brock
Andrew - Graham - Blakely
Sharp - Constable - Atkins
Humphrey - Burgess - Sexton
Berry - Casboult - Day

Moyle - Anderson - Fiorini

Oea - Fauklhead - Tsitas - Macpherson - Johnston

That is a seriously strong vfl team. Obviously not everyone will be available but should be right up the top in the vfl next year

Who will be putting pressure on? We were for most of the season the best team keeping the ball inside forward 50. I would say Holman was important part of it.
