Is it mostly mids in 2023? Any key position? Apart from Walter, of course. But not available to the rest of us.In no particular order below is my 2023 top 20. A lot of quality in this draft, many of which would be top 10, worse case first rounders in this years draft (2022) Looking at this lot multiple first rnd picks in 2023 will be very desirable

My thought's exactly. Moir will be a top 5 pick next yearNo Moir?
You might have left out the potential number 1 next year in Ashton Moir but the rest is goodIn no particular order below is my 2023 top 20. What's the rule with academy and f/s now. If selected in the top 40 the club can't match bids on their academy or f/s kids?Just look at all those Academy players…
Shit that is a huge oversight! Moir is definitely in.No Moir?
Pretty sure those were the rules last year. Now it’s matching only beyond 40, unless they’ve done a backflip.Top 20 they can’t match.
20 to 40 use accumulated picks/points.
40+ use their next pick.
Are the Northern Acadmeies still the same rules as Father Son?Pretty sure those were the rules last year. Now it’s matching only beyond 40, unless they’ve done a backflip.
Yes as far as I know. Honestly, the Sydney and Brisbane academies should operate the same as the NGA’s now. It’s far too great of an advantage for them to be bringing in academy players and father/sons with no restrictions. Are the Northern Acadmeies still the same rules as Father Son?
I've never understood the logic behind Northern Academies needing to be run by an AFL team to start with. The Vic U18 comp seems to do a pretty fabulous job of churning out players without the need of being directly run by a club.Yes as far as I know. The northern clubs have to compete with the NRL.I've never understood the logic behind Northern Academies needing to be run by an AFL team to start with. The Vic U18 comp seems to do a pretty fabulous job of churning out players without the need of being directly run by a club.
The Cats and the Falcons show that there is enough incentive for the AFL club to develop a strong link and help to promote anything going on there. They don't need to be Sydney/Brisbane run with that club getting special access to the players who roll through their academy. The northern clubs have to compete with the NRL.
hahahahaThe northern clubs have to compete with the NRL.
I think most of players prospective players tossing up between an NRL and AFL career want to avoid the draft. Falcons players don’t have the other options. The Cats and the Falcons show that there is enough incentive for the AFL club to develop a strong link and help to promote anything going on there. Jen2310,
Can you please talk to your GCS board friends about giving us back our guy in 2024.
Who you ask?
GCS Academy: Zai Millane – Burleigh Bombers
There surley should be an uncle/nephew rule for the Millane family.
Interesting point. Care to elaborate?hahahaha
Note (and this was always going to happen in some regard given the size of the document), Jed Walter was left out and will be added next week. Was 100% on the list (obviously being a potential top 10 pick) but clearly shuffling names with each change saw him left off, but he's in there.![]()
