Worth mentioning.

Mid year at a club function. Ross spoke about backing in our program and the culture we are creating to develop all types of players but make them feel at home at stkilda and he referenced Pou Keeler Nas re-signing.

Collard was the best talent available at the pick by far.

I feel a sense of proudness at how far we have come so quickly in this space. We 1000000% turned our back on those we perceived would be difficult and different.
3 year minimum contracts for first rounders now doesn't hurt either.

Although if he is really homesick, I am open to trading him in a straight swap for Harley Reid next year

So does that mean Pou has resigned? Don't underestimate the impact of Maso, Hilly, Tony Brown, Wilkie making all the lads feel welcome.

So I was largely outside with my phone waiting for an ambulance to direct them, highlight of the night being seeing a name pop up and "who checked that the bird was erect and why was it an Ablett?" to no one in particular as I was the only one outside at that point.

In other news, did see a neighbour almost drive into a blind pedestrian whilst waiting, legit maybe 10cm between them as pedestrian gave no shits and neither did she in doing her U turn. Was an interesting experience before it went downhill.

But man, what a name, glad I missed the majority of the telecast going by this replay going on.

Wrapt with the 2 picks if I’m honest.

Infact I’m thrilled with the moves we made.

In:
Wilson
Collard
Pick 27 (33 currently)
Future second

Out:
Pick 40
Future third rounder
credit where credit is due, SOS has had a very good 1st year. factor in caminiti and stocker too.

Haven’t nailed 3 consecutive drafts in my lifetime I don’t think. Rare territory! 😍
Not sure you can say you've nailed a draft...on draft night before the kids have actually set foot at Moorabbin

IF you've just come back from 2 years in the future though I unreservedly apologise ;-)

Just checked the Crows ‘double up’ games. Very Good for us , playing teams who should improve or hold their ground plus Hawthorn their only bottom six double up. All we need now is for them to have another Collective Minds pre-season camp. That 2nd rounder we have of theirs could become rolled gold.

Personally, as a good a talent as Leake could be, I don’t see him as a good fit for us.

Much rather Wilson, so getting the second back for next year is just good business.
I’m still not sure on this one I’ve seen Leake play a bit in Tasmania is absolute quality down back reminds me of lever from Melbourne see how it plays out I suppose all the Tasmanians will be flight risks in a few years that might have played a part in this decision

Collard could well be a excellent pick up but in all reality the kid was playing 3rds in the WAFL which is a long way to get up to AFL standard.
When you see guys like Thongstrap and Curtin were playing seniors in the WAFL.
Anyway the kid is talented but it's going to take time , we have to let the kid develop and it's going to take more than a couple years and hopefully he will get the motivation from the young guys we have atm.

Didn’t like this pick one bit and doubt I will.

We also gained a second round pick to not take him + there is the risk he joins Tassie when they enter the comp.

Could Dard actually be Mad Man Marcum??

I'm thrilled we got Collard. On top of Wilson, it made for a successful night one. If we get get Cooper Simpson tomorrow night, I'll be over the moon.

BTW, does Collard remind anyone else of a young Shai Bolton? He took a couple of years to develop and I've no doubt young Lance will too, but he's exciting, alright. No risk, no reward. Kudos to the the recruiting team.

Shai Bolton was a far superior talent

So 3 picks before us tomorrow. Probably get a look at at least one of:
  • Cooper Simpson (Mid. Enough said)
  • Ollie Murphy (KPD and local. Hope that one of him or Van Es really make it)
  • Arie Schoenmaker (Coff replacement, and cant have enough good kicks)
Reading posts above, seems like most people would be happy with one of them.
