Hated that some used him as the whipping boy.
In an era when effort was not mandatory, his was always evident - constantly cracked in.

The news about the hammy/calf must have been a negative. Saints were doing everything to keep.him on.

Wasn’t Dmac 18 months since his last game with significant queries on his body about whether he could come back?


Club doesn’t have to be the bad guy here.

They just made a hard decision to move forward.

It's actually a little upsetting.........he's had an unbelievable run with injury since he went down against Brissy at Brissy mid last season.

I often wondered how many ladders....black cats,broken mirrors etc.

Watching him during the season at training in the rehab group....praying it would all come good.....and when he joined the main group briefly.......you thought YES(not Optus)

Not to be.

Who can forget the game against the Weagles at Marvel mid 2021.....5 or so goals down at half time.........we'd kicked a couple in the 3rd.....D-mac lined up from 30 out.......sucked an enormous amount of oxygen in.....closed his eyes briefly....and nailed it.

Big Maxy ensured that we got the chocolates in the last qtr.

And to be fair, DMac was a nervous wreck when played at half back (his natural position in juniors) under Richo, the same way Hill struggled in his first couple of years. That’s why some supporters were critical of him.

In 2021/22, DMac did play a few good games on the wing, but couldn’t get on the park since.. He has been at the club for 9 seasons now, still a fringe player at best. Wouldn’t play him ahead of Wood or Hill. Yes, he is tough, but really is more of an athlete than footballer. Hope he gets his body right and secure a gig elsewhere. But the era of hoping someone to come good after 6+seasons are finished (Mckenzie, Billings, Coffield etc.). If you don’t perform after 2-3 seasons, next banana..

When Sandy played Werribee in Werribee during the year and he came off, went straight down the rooms and was visibly upset - he knew. Was tough to watch.
His family went down after some time to see him, then the coach.
When they came out they had all visibly been upset/crying.
That was it unfortunately.

Club has stuck by him, and I understand we have to move forward, it's just a bit tough some times.

Hope he gets his body right and he gets back to playing at the highest level.
