So ESPN ranks us equal first draft winners.

Another thread ruined by unsubstantiated allegations and virtue signalling.

Hubnester made it clear there is a Scandals and Rumours board so to save football threads being ruined.
Schoenmaker's original Welcome thread was ruined and eventually had to be deleted by the moderator called George.

Please respect both moderators and go to that board to character assassinate this kid and spare the rest of us your moralising and pearl clutching on things that may or may not be true.

Well Said.

Suppose we are filling list spots with young talent and hope for the best , only having one pick in the top 20 make all our picks very speculative anyway I don't expect any of the kids we have picked will make a impact in there first year.
AFL Player rankings when the players were selected.
Wison 14
Collard 18
Schoenmakers 24
Hastie 39

Well, that's it for the venting and rage for this year regarding the Saints. There is nothing left to be mad about. We've both traded and drafted well...at least on paper. Well done to the recruitment team (I think) Now pre-season begins...the months of burgeoning optimism springs forth like a bloom upon a sun kissed meadow. Allison to take another training drill mark...the second of his career I believe...oh, it shall be a glorious highlight. Track watchers are our new gods for the up-coming months...Smite us with your observations gang. We earnestly await like the salivating dogs we are.

Can already tell Schoenmaker is going to be one of those names that the Shakespearians of this board will butcher completely, similar to that of Hunter cLaRkE and co.

I've already seen Schoenmakers, Shoemaker, and Schonemakker.

Let's all say it together now;

S-C-H-O-E-N-M-A-K-E-R.

Thank god we didn’t take Curtin

I’ve said it before but the previous rebuild (the Cho years) didn’t fill me with a lot of confidence. In fact it took me till the Bulldogs game where we were down 50 odd and Billings played out of his mind to start investing again.

This may be the lingering effects of having Ross back or just making the finals but I feel optimism and genuine excitement about our list again.

St Kilda being St Kilda will 100% wipe that out I’m sure but for now this is an incredible feeling. I truly feel for the first time since 2009/10 that we’re going in the right path and this could lead the something.

Wilson and Hastie in round 1.

I also think one of these two is most likely to debut first.

But, if by some miracle Collard can impress himself on the coaching panel and tackle his way into the team I think he can have an enormous impact on our ability to pepper the scoreboard.

Whatever happens though I hope we bite the bullet and blood a couple early.

The youth has undoubtedly brought new energy to match days in the last couple of seasons and I’m hoping that this crop can do more of the same.

If Lyons commitment to Phillipou, Owens and Nas has been anything to go by then we are in for a treat I think.

Hastie then

The way Hastie moves looks like he translate well to seniors and could probably slide into HBF without making the team weaker. Might be harder to get Wlison in. Probably has to play high HF where Owens and Phillipou have spots and unless they move into full time mid field spots probably hold them. Hastie probably only has to push out Clark or Stocker who are both fringe.

I think Wilson has the capability to have an Ollie Hollands like impact.

If he can use his run to make sure he gets himself into really good positions on offense and defense then he’s done 85% of the job.

Hopefully his short pass kicking is up to AFL standard, otherwise he can run and carry.

Totally agree with your Hastie comments.
I love his highlight reel.
I think Wilson looks capable of forcing his way into seniors and I am sure Ross the Boss will be keen to get some games into him.
Our 2021 crop of draftees bar Adams have proven to be a success at the highest level and Phillipou looks the goods from the 2022 Draft
We need to have 2 more success stories from both the 22 & 23 drafts and we then should be seeing a great period of happy times for the RWB.
Looking forward to watching Henry also.
Next year's delisting could be interesting if the above comes to fruition

What an off season. We’ve moved on from the perennially injured (bar Jones) and replaced them with high energy kids.
At worst, there’s more bodies on the park to execute training effectively. At best, they challenge players like Webster, Howard, Clark, Ross, Membrey and Byrnes and take their spot.
We’re building on the fly, and it’s bloody exciting to see the club in such good shape

Considering we didn't have 2 NGA lads fall in our lap like two years ago and didn't have a top ten draft pick I think this trade and draft period this year is one of our best if not our best for a long long time, yes some of them are raw but you can see the talent they have and a bit of spunk about them.
I don't expect us to be much better next year than this year but the following year I think we should be really at the point to challenge

Agreed. If Wilson is close to the mark, RTB will pump games into him like Phillipou.

Wilson takes Byrne's spot off the pine.

To do what we did was remarkable.

First we brought in targeted players with Henry and Dow.
Lost only regularly injured players generally past their best footy (Coff TBC).
Then the Draft haul of pure speed, skill and high ceiling value.

A+
