Yeah, would be good if Heath & Van Es could step up this season, Heath could put on another 3kg this pre-season to get him to 100kg. See him as getting to 105kg, eventually.
Van Es, already a good size, just needs to refine his craft.
Van Es is a long way off. Wasn't yet putting together full games at VFL level.

Its not about weight , its about core strength and craft, jeez if its about weight I'm starting best 22

Windsor would be sensational but is being touted as a possible top 10 pick now. I like the Edwards and Simpson picks and think we could also consider DeMattia with our first.

I found this phantom draft on the drafts BF site and believe its the best Ive seen at balancing club needs and best available -

Note: In that phantom that both ruckman Edwards and Goad slid through to after our 3rd pick I wouldnt be unhappy with either, but Mitch Edwards has real forward potential and his marking and ruck craft is superior.
It’s not beyond the realms of probability that this phantom draft could pan out, particularly the first 2 selections.
Apparently Toce likes Harvey Johnson & De Mattia’s speed would appeal, although I personally would prefer Charlie Edwards.
I doubt Moir would slide as far as #41

George Stevens is going to be one of the most fascinating stories from this draft, both where he goes and how his career pans out.

In some of his highlights he looks like J.Selwood 2.0.

What's the go with Moir?

Looking at a few of the more reputable Phantoms, he was looking like a top 5 prospect at the start of the season.

He had a disappointing year. Same as Lorenz and Phillactides. Some kids burst out of the blocks in their under 17 year and don't back it up.

Interesting

Darby Hipwell 22? Inside mid trying to develop other aspects of the game and improve disposal.
Tomo Owens, 23 next year maybe. Was playing basketball in 2021, but was equal best new player at Sandy.
Milne, very reliable defender , averaged as many AFLF points as Connelly, despite playing lockdown roles.
Zagari, 23ish.

Zebs best and fairest was :

1: Hipwell
2: Campbell(StK but didn't play a game )
3: Gown (194cm forward, former Essendon , didn't get a game there )
4: Highmore ( StK, but didn't play a game in 2023)
5: Heath ( StK , but didn't play a game ).
6: Zagari
7: Bytel ( StK, Delisted ).
8: Adams ( StK, Delisted ).
9: Peris ( Delisted ).
10: Billings/Connolly.

So if we want someone with more ability than the players we just delisted , i guess we are looking at Hipwell, ( or Maybe Owens with potential rapid growth after quitting basketball, can he be catB?, that's less of a wasted spot than a full rookie spot ).

Amazing that we are wasting a rookie spot to keep up relations with the affiliation.

Some brilliant initiatives and not before time. Finally both clubs working collectively, it will work to take down the walls that has been holding the alignment back for so long. Taking a rookie each year will also help Sandringham attract prospective AFL players and strengthen their player pool. I hope the Sandringham Recruiter also gets to work alongside our group to build the VFL listed players.

Sound like it won't be starting until next years draft with hopefully a better selection of players available.

He's a funny one this year, could go anywhere from 20 to 50 by the sounds of it.

Johnston would be a great get at our pick 40 if he gets that far. That 20-50 range is anyone’s guess

What the actual? So we take a Sandy player no matter what? Maybe that will help attract non Saints players because it’s been a god awful ride.
One of the big issues at Sandy is they arent gettnig a lot of quality recruits on their list. This would certainly make it more attractive for the VFL players.
