Might free up Alison to play that role.

He's not going to make it as a fwd and doesn't get enough of it on the wing
Are you kidding, the kid does everything he can to stay away from the ball, hardly the traits of an interceptor, have you ever seen him play

I feel compelled to do this exercise once again!

Allison - Odriscoll (next pick)
Van Es - Binns

Really wanted Binns last year but understand the KPD selection. I hope Van Ess comes on strong because i have zero doubt Binns will be 200 plus game player and a very good one at that.

Odriscoll had second year blues but looked super in his debut season.

Uncanny how often the next pick tears it up.

And Howard wouldn’t have made a difference
RTB mentioned how the midfield was slaughtered making it impossible for the defenders
That’s a positive. It highlights an area we thought we had covered but may need to pop a wee bit of work into.

Not really, been mostly injured hasn't he.

But seeing as he hasn't done much as a wing or key fwd it's pretty much the only position left to test him out.

He's got a year left before he's likely delisted.

Where would you play him then? Who's a 190÷ cm option to be a third tall (aside from FA's or draftees)

Gee whiz, the comments from Essendon fans on the Voss delisting are making me want to get him.
I would take anything a Bombers fan says with a grain of salt.
Says the man who wasted 10 minutes of his life this morning after answering a question raising the issue of Trade Period/Dodoro, and the winning thereof, with a Dunning/Kruger football supporter who was black and red unhinged.
Coffee was good, and a comfort.

Coffee ☕️ is always good
It brings great joy

What's everyone's thoughts on Arie Schoenmaker?
Just thinking about losing Coffield, the Highmore delisting etc.
194cm/90kg booming left peg. Touted to go roughly around our pick I think?
I certainly wouldn't bork at the idea...

From ESPN draft power rankings:

"15. Arie Schoenmaker (14)
Tasmania Devils/Allies
DEF/MID, 194cm, 89kg
Talent League: 8 games, 27.0 disposals, 5.9 marks

Schoenmaker is the best kick in the draft, effortlessly launching it 60 metres when he wheels onto his left foot out of defence. He has third tall size at either end of the ground, but his ability to find the ball in space and kickstart transition is invaluable for the Devils. Schoenmaker averages six more kicks than any other player and is a genuine driving force as a key defender "

Given the Highmore delisting, do want.

Not a Coffield replacement.
Needs to grow another 3-5cm.

Good it's all up to him , if he doesn't deliver he will be gone.
I think it's a reasonably good situation that will do exactly that.
The concern is how to replace a mature KPD in the timeframe available, and to be perfectly honest I'm just not sure Josh Battle has the goods to be a CHB in the big dance and I'd much prefer he be a 3rd tall. How quickly can Van Ess develop??

You are correct , finding a 2m tall key defender is almost impossible.
This why keeping Howard was important no matter what anybody says.
Hopefully we find a player who is capable to play on the tall forwards , but for now we have him to do the job , trading him without a suitable replacement would of been stupid.

Steven May one of the best fullback in the league is 193cms tall, he uses his body strength to move his opponents off the ball.

Maybe watch the Richmond game again and see what a fool Howard is

Howard such a major component yet RTB was happy to leave him out for a do or die final and also happy to have him shopped around
Talls dont play well in the wet. Howard is two meters tall. Richmond only had Riewoldt as a tall forward and he wasnt playing well. It was easily the obvious structual change.

Would still love 2 mids at our first 2 picks over a key defender as our midfield is terrible and our biggest weakness- statistically we had one of the best defence in the league, hope van Es comes on and if a slider defender like ZZ is still there at pick 28-30 odd trade 40 and future 3rds to get him
