Anyway. Soz. Wasn’t trying to offend with the Cal comment. I’m still happy with DeMattia, might surprise some.I heard Cal wears pink underwear.
Bill shaw, Alan sillitoe ?Hello everyone. Long-time lurker, a first-time poster. I am feeling strangely confident about this year's draft. This is one of the only times I've felt this way in over a quarter of a century barracking for the saints.
I come from a long line of sainters and have listened to many rellies and friends who've outlined the horrors of following the saints, particularly during the 80s'.
"You're not a real sainter unless you spent the 80s watching the saints at Moorabbin, collecting spoon after spoon," my old man always reminds me when I complain.
Anyway, I think I may have been lulled into a false sense of security by the most recent efforts of Chris Toce and crew. Am I alone in feeling this way?
After the disaster of the Elshaug years, I had become conditioned to dreading the draft. Now with a new batch of promising youngsters acquired over the past few years, dare we believe we are finally in good hands when it comes to recruiting? It has, historically, been our Achilles heel.
Don't let us down, Chris, Roughy, Sos and Gubby. RTB (I'm a fan) is relying on you!

I’ve slept on it and still not feeling the DeMattia choice
Of the three we seem to fancy at that pick Imo he’s clearly the difference maker.DeMattia is much more of a risky option IMO. He's real boom bust. I think if he's a star in the future it's going to be an attitude thing rather than a skill set. That's harder to read than what you see with the eye. He was an exceptional cricketer and probably could have ended up playing international cricket. Probably has a really strong competitive streak and self belief that makes him attractive in interviews and scope.
Sometimes if that’s your guy you have to just pull the trigger, getting too cute can end in tears. He might.
But you can trade back 3 picks and still grab him if he is your man
And I have no issues with the person.DeMattia is much more of a risky option IMO. He's real boom bust. I think if he's a star in the future it's going to be an attitude thing rather than a skill set. I guess we’ll see in the years to come, this is like a cup sweep everyone has a horse and we’re waiting for the horses to jumpNot to me. I was a fan at first but gone off him. Really think Edwards will be the pick of them around our first. Wilson looks the type we like and has some real tricks. He sort of in-between as a riskier type but high ceiling if it all goes to plan.
Sam Alabakis, welcome to the saints! Not overly fussed with who we draft with mid first round picks, all I’ll say is the only things we need are SPEED and SKILL. Please don’t go tall.
I like Edwards and personally I don’t think any of them will be busts at afl level. It’s easy to see why north are interested in all three and are hot for Wilson just look at the young mids they have and what they will add before Wilson in this draft. Not to me. I've given up trying to read anything from it.That website is terrible.
Absolutely agree, I really wasn't a fan of that pick, thought he was going to take years to even be relevant. But they saw something, and nailed it.I've got a fair bit of faith in our recruiters after our recent drafting. The one that really stands out is Nasiah, an absolutely brilliant pick who in hindsight should have gone a lot higher.
Here's hoping we can unearth a future gun tonight. We have some handy picks. Always an exciting time.
From my personal highlight viewing, the one I like the look of is Edwards.

Good points, important to remember that we all know sweet FA with these players and selections. A lot here, myself included, didn't want NAS at the time and we were wrong!Absolutely agree, I really wasn't a fan of that pick, thought he was going to take years to even be relevant.
