Why are we not into Mabior Chol?

I was really into Chol, but his work rate is iffy at best. Looks more for the easy out the back I noticed (and some commentators picked up on that as well during the year). A real shame because he has all the attributes required to be a key position forward.

Yeah but your fellow posters want a first rounder for him.

Ain't much use spending a first rounder on a player who services that need in the interim period before we're contending again.

Might as well go an option that doesn't require that much draft capital (eg. Zac Fisher), and keep the first rounders for elite youngsters who will be around when we're having a tilt.

I think most reasonable posters on here would be happy to see salem go for a 20-30 pick.

That would be fair. Don't think I'd take a 3rd rounder for him. He'd still be better depth than whoever you could get at that stage.

Sometimes I think it's more than that though, it's the opportunity to step up for someone else and meaning you can't just go back to him anymore. It's a fresh start. I don't personally want him in the side anymore

As a player he's probably worth a late 20s pick, but considering he signed that huge extension right at the peak of his form in 2021, I imagine if we were to trade him, it'd probably be a salary dump that would only net a fairly late pick.

He's 29 next year, injury and illness prone, and two years past his best.

That all being said, he's probably worth more to us than we could get in a trade for him, so unless we have a use for his cash, I'd probably keep him.

I don't think the Grundy situation was a mistake, they believed it could work, it didn't and now he'll get traded out for a similar pick. The way I look at it is if he had him on a loan for a year, thanks for the service but see you later. It's also business for him, he wants first ruck so fair enough, good luck.

Jacob Koschitzke out of favour at Hawks would be one I'd look at. Would cost us nothing and at the very least be a better depth option than Tmac or Brown.

I'm over him too but his presence in the team hasn't stopped guys like McVee or Bowey from developing. The reality is if the coaches rate him highly enough to play him every week they aren't going to accept a third rounder for him.

If we keep Salem, we've gotta throw him a new challenge for his sake and ours. He's stagnated badly. Half forward or mid time.

He won't be traded. I think a club would have to offer extreme overs for us to look at it which won't happen.

He was one of our best players against carlton. He stood up when it counted.

He's better than Chandler who was fn useless since Round 5. We should have swapped those two much earlier. We don't have enough smart ball users. Spargo is a smart ball user we'd be silly to let him go imo.

Haha, I'm just mindful of the fact that we probably don't want to send too many senior depth players packing at once if we're still hoping to compete.

I hope he's pushed out of the 22 next year if his form doesn't miraculously return, but if we can't get anything useful for him, we might as well keep him as depth. That being said, if someone randomly offered a half-decent pick for him, I would happily do it.

Spargos problem is he doesn’t hit the scoreboard. Chandler despite dropping off averaged 1.04 goals/0.78 assists, Spargo has never had a season close to those numbers.
