Nope. Lose Grundy, Harmes and even replace Pig & JJ with first year players we should have at least some room. Because Grundy was recruited with an expectation that he'd be there.

Yeah fair call. I was thinking maybe Trac and Oliver's contracts might have different payment levels throughout the years but Grundy and Harmes in particular are unexpected moves that we wouldn't have planned for so at minimum we have their contracts as space.

You'd assume McAdam would take up Harmes contract which leaves us with Grundy. Not going to count JJ coz he would have basically been on **** all. So guestimate we have at least ~ 800k spare to spend as a minimum.

If we went after Naughton we'd be giving up a lot (if not all) of our picks and it would seem Simple Simon thinks this game plan is a winner.

Id much rather we changed the game plan to one that isn't as heavily reliant on needing to play KPFs and spent our draft picks on some guys who can kick.

He's contracted until the end of 2024, so the doggies have every right to ask for the world for him.
Starting point for them would be pick 5 and 13.

We still need to show that we're bringing in elite young talent through instead of cashing all our chips in for a key forward that wouldn't even work in our current system.

I can see why we would target Naughton.

Can play forward or back, Bulldogs have way too many good talls and probably bring in Croft this year too. Plus he’s out of contract next year so if we show enough interest they could get concerned about losing him for nothing next year.

There is talk that Croft might not even nominate the dogs if he thinks he’ll be too far down the order.

I’d start him in the backline myself.

I’d also be spewing if it cost us the opportunity to bring in O’Sullivan so hopefully we could keep pick 5. I’d rather sure up the list for the long term because I think we can still contend next year.

Would Naughton even work in our game plan? His best asset is being able to run and jump at the ball and being unbeatable in the air.

I imagine the thought process is something like this: "ive seen Naughton take pack marks derp, I like packs in our F50 derp, perfect derp"

I think with Gawns comments after the Collingwood game, about how it looked like a 'Melbourne loss' and the reports that the players want some fresh voices in the coaching group, Goodwin would be in danger of losing the players if we ran out the same way.

It's already ridiculous we had to learn the same lesson twice.

Strike 3 and you're out? 🤞🤞

Lucky we re-signed him for a further 2 more years.

Not sure why Jason Taylor and Tim Lamb are so damn passive. We weren't linked to Koschitzke, Chol or Buku Khamis. Or Doedee. Just Shane bloody McAdam and a 35 yr old Hawkins.

Unless we're still trying to get Harley Reid, it doesn't really add up.
I think they are being active. We just don't leak like a sieve like a lot of other clubs and I think that is a good thing.

Not just him either. Yze is most likely going to be the only change in that department. That bit about the players wanting fresh voices was a massive concern and should be a big wake up call imo.

If it's another 3 more years of ThE mElBoUrNe WaY I'll have quit following the AFL before the contract is up I reckon.

It also means we're not talking to any managers or clubs who leak. So it's unlikely we have more than a couple of targets.

Look he’s a very good player but it’d absolutely obliterate our draft this year and next.

Why would he cost more than pick 5?
Steven May cost pick 5.

Dogs could take the best young KPD in the draft at pick 5 (O’Sullivan). Would have clear appeal for them given their backline woes.
