Yeah we're not overstocked now probably. Although all are depth pluses apart from Clarry.

I think that's amazing. I'd rather play next year with one short than one too many. Means we actually have to try and play a different style of footy that isn't a couple years out dated.

Playing with more freedom and uncontested footy will also help our forward line

We worked well with Trac playing a fair bit forward, and with questions over whether Gus can play in the middle now that would leave us with Viney (30 when the season starts) and Sparrow and then what? Kozzy and Rivers are questionable options in terms of playing a large amount of midfield minutes all of a sudden, Woey? ANB? It gets real thin real quick.

If this is actually on we’d better get maximum value for him, which with pick 1 and 4 on the table this draft means ending up with 3 picks in the top 10 or 2 and a bloody good player we actually need.

I'd say if this goes through we will hold 4 first rounders at some point. Then it's all about how much we wanna spend to go up with those.

There’s also the reality that if we free up close to $1.5m a year between Oliver and Grundy there’s more than enough room to be bringing in a really good player while still moving money forward in longer term contracts to make space for re-contracting Harley Reid and McKercher.

An that might not be this year either, maybe we've started talking to someone for 12 months from now. Don't think we're just gonna sit on our hands with that much cash free. That's also not including Pig, Jordan and Harmes which is probably 500 there if not more

There should be no circumstance where we trade Clarry.

Club management has to get their shit together and get the best out of our talent.

I get the 'left field' thinkers who say it could be an opportunity to improve, but really we would just be getting rid of our best player when his life has hit a cross-roads and he doesn't have support systems in place.

I bet if those of us who are over 26 put the microscope on ourselves versus Clarry at the same age in terms of discipline, habits, achievements - we would be coming up really ****ing short.

I'll thank you if we win the flag next year.
Might not be that simple, might be like when we got May and finished near the bottom and everyone called it a failure. This will set us up for the next 5 years not necessarily next year.

My take is we should be able to win a flag next year if we make the right moves.

We already have a draft hand to really set up our future with some quality young players inside 30.

Yeah I'm just not sure their peak impact is next year though.

Tom Morris reported Harmes is on 530k next year, very specific number. Will be a shit ton of cap space.

Normally I don’t mind us doing it but unless it helps us secure two top 5 picks I don’t want us trading our 2024 1st. I have faith we can improve if Oliver goes but it’s certainly a risk that we slide.
I'm fine with it if we can use it to upgrade this year. Like a future first for say pick 18 id probably do.

Im not against us using our F1 because of how much cap space we'd have next year. We can go a little silly next offseason if we were to trade Oliver. Brown and TMac deals ending will be such a relief.

Free agency baby

Did forget about dads army finishing up next year.

Watch us sign Sean Darcy to 9m over 7yr 🥰

At that coin might Melbourne have to send something with Harmes to get that entire salary off the books? Or just get an absolute junk pick in return?

I’m staggered there is so much interest in Harmes, even more so if that’s his contract for 2024.
