Excuse the intrusion guys.

Wondering if anyone here has any idea where Kynan Brown might be bid on in the draft?

And if there's been any discussion here about potentially trading for Gold Coasts future first round pick.

Kynan looks like he butchers the ball but is a good accumulator, moving from a HBF into more of a midfield role this year. He'll take time but it's exciting to have another genuine FS prospect who looks as if he would demand being drafted, whether by us or another.

In terms of the Suns, I'd love to be working with them on a trade. They have some players I'm really interested in - Flanders, Holland and Brodie McLaughlin - and they may still need to rack up some points this year to get their big three. I don't know how that would see us in the mix for their first round pick, either this year or next, but I'm sure somebody smarter than me can help with that.

In terms of our own drafting needs, presuming we're unable to trade up for Harley Reid and unable to trade for a high-calibre KPF (Ben King, Naughten), then I'd be really keen to see us grab Nick Watson with the Freo pick if he's there.

What would you be willing to trade for the Suns future first round pick?

Our first & second from this year (currently 15 & 34) perhaps?

Would need a later pick for this year to match a bid on Kynan Brown and then we go in with what is currently 5 and 24?

Angus Brayshaw :rainbow:

(We can throw another pick or three, whatever makes them happy)

The only thing worse than Brayshaws kicking is the way he sloppily tucked his shirt for the footy show.

I guess it’s hard to find clothes that fit properly when you have a beer gut!

Danster, I agree with you.

As stupid as it sounds maybe it's the most pragmatic thing for everyone to trade Grundy at the end of the year. Might get rid of guys salary and gain a second pick to a team desperate for a ruck

We have White coming up, and Gawn still very good, with Schache and JVR for a pinch.

Might be going a bit early here but happy to go early in the spirit of us getting the best deal for everyone.

Danster wasn't the only one querying the Grundy deal, he was just shouting it from the rooftops over and over.

But yeah it made little sense at the time and even less sense now.

I think Grundy still has an important role to play - extending Gawny's career.

Teams have physically been going after Gawny for years and I think it has worn him down. End of last year he was definitely playing injured but felt he had to soldier on for the team. Times this year he has looked very mortal.

If Grundy can keep Gawny fresh for the pointy end of the year by shouldering more ruck work or even giving Max games off to freshen up throughout the year then that can still be a win. Ideally, they both kick more goals when resting forward and the combo looks more like R1 against the Dogs more often

I don't think every week solo Gawn will be this good, but having a great partner in the ruck will hopefully extend his career and give him more chance of replicating games like this in September when we need him to as well as providing a perfect stand in if he does go down.

It’s a matter of what opportunities are actually available.

Is there someone more suitable to our needs that we can get during this trade period if we offload Grundy? If yes, you’d have to have the conversation. If not, I’m happy to pay him any amount of money to have him there as a backup if Gawn goes down on GF day, and share the load throughout the season to extend Max’s shelf life.

Might need to be reevaluated on an offseason by offseason basis.

White is 16 years old. He won't play a game at AFL level until about 2028. Gawn is now 14 seasons into his career and, as rd 2 nearly proved, is one serious knee injury away from it being all over. Grundy may have to cool his heels for 12 months or play as a forward, but Gawn is too old to rely on beyond next year.

Happy to be paying Grundy 600k to play 2s to be honest, providing we actually give Gawn a rest every 8 weeks or so.

I don’t see any need for Gawn or May to play every home and away game.

I don't see any need for any of our players to play all games.

In fact, I don't think any of our players need to play any games, ever.

I think we should just release a flock of pigeons to confuse and poop on the opposition.

What were we talking about?

I tend to agree. I don't think this idea of Gawn and Grundy 'sharing' the ruck was ever going to be practical. For the big games, like last night, Gawn will have to spend 80% of the time in the ruck. But he can't be expected to have games like last night every week. For the upcoming games against West Coast and North, we should probably have Grundy doing most of the ruck work and saving Max for the business end of the season.

I'm not sure about the wisdom and converting Grundy to a part-time forward at this stage of his career. To my knowledge, he's never been utilised in this way and wasn't what we recruited him for. Understand we have forwardline problems - JVR still learning his craft, Brown nearing retirement, Fritsch injured. But is Grundy really going to be able to learn how to play as a forward in the VFL? I think its going to mess with already dented confidence a bit.

Gerard Whately on SEN crunch time 100% reckons we should flip Grundy to a third club this coming trade period.

You can’t allocate $650k in resources to a Casey ruckman. Gamble didn’t work, accept it and move on.

Gerard also thinks Gryan Miers is the Messi of the AFL, so let’s take it with a pinch of salt 😜

It's literally what I've been saying. The criticism on the decision to bring in Grundy has shown now to be justified. It didn't make sense and I haven't seen much that I've liked from Grundy.

Sliding doors moment when the Cats traded up to pick up Max Holmes before we could draft him in 2020. He's exactly what our midfield needs.
I have a sook to myself about this literally every time I watch Geelong play.

Think ya got Bowey instead. Who is exactly what your midfield needs
