Don't think we play the same way with a proper key forward there.
Doesn't make any sense. Bailey fristch is just as dangerous as Hawkins 1-1 or with some space. Doubt a 36 year old Hawkins suddenly sees us empty out the forward line and turn our shit midfield into good kicks

Idk I just saw us change the way we played in season after Petty and Melk went down, maybe we were scared of Fritsch's foot blowing up. Don't think it's a good excuse for playing the way we did but I do think came into the coaches minds.

JDG 18
Crisp 10
Pendles 9
Mitchell 7
N.Daicos 19
J.Daicos 16

Total 89 goals

Trac 28
Oliver 6
Viney 8
Gus 2
Langdon 6
Sparrow 11

61 goals

Our number is clearly boosted by Trac playing as an almost permanent forward.
Again. All this rubbish about key forwards being the issue is wrong, most overrated midfield in the comp. Collingwoods mids kicked around 30 extra goals this year. There's the difference in a key forward

It still shits me to no end that Goody started his presser after the Sydney game in R3 with a big dorky smile and saying "That was fun, wasn't it?" We then played a similar style 2-3 times for the entire remainder of the year.

We didn't change against good teams though most of the wins came against garbage opposition. Also not a problem just for the last 2 weeks. It's been a problem under goody ever since he took over as coach

'The Melbourne way' is all about trying to cover our weaknesses to our own detriment.

It's about defense and contest and winning certain indicators rather than winning on the scoreboard.

With hindsight seems more like when we looked a million dollars against the lions twice last season and crap against everyone else. Was nothing we did, just the opposition gave us.

We've always had issues with wasting forward 50 entries, yes, but our ball movement has absolutely been better under Goodwin than what it is currently.

It really doesn't make sense. Shit forward line and ok defence, so let's make it impossible for the forwards and protect the defence with everything. Collingwood have a crap forward line so they made it as easy as possible for their forwards to score

Not really. 2021 an earlier were still the years of the red mist etc we just got insanely hot at stoppages. Now that we are back to a normal stoppage side you see our true colours
