I swear some people here don't actually read other's comments (not you). It's like they only post their own opinion then ignore everything else that doesn't fit their narrative.

Sorry mate, didn’t know opinions that differ to yours are banned here.

If you checked my comment about Harmes came before that reply but don’t let that stop you having a snipe champ.

you'd love to cop 2x firsts for Petty but we just cant afford to trade him this year.

Too many questions for it to be realistic. How we view his injury/when would we expect him back. How we view our list. Could we get someone we want with those picks. Would he even clear a medical. Would Adelaide offer that much (doubt it)

It’s weird to me that people would prefer to be Essendon overpaying stock standard players than us shipping off a few players we don’t need and keeping our draft picks unless there’s somebody we really need that is worth giving them up for.

Can’t see a single problem with anything we’ve done to date.

Would North consider trading their pick 3 back to our pick 6? Give them a late first rounder for their troubles and it makes it easier for them justify a Sanders selection who they are keen on.
Was thinking this too, except North would then offer 2 and 6 to West Coast for pick 1 and another pick. Gives North Reid and WC Curtin.

So we would trade 6 and 13 for 3 and 21 (possibly with other picks) - Might need some tweaking but then it gives us access to one of our prime targets if they are worried about them being gone before our pick.

Early trade period melts is a big footy trade period past time.

Lamb re-signing Melksham to take up a list spot for an entire year to rehab his knee is a master class in list management.

Melky is effectively on the 'out' list too.
Sometimes you take a small hit to maintain team morale. Melky is a much loved team member who had been cruelled. We have plenty of other free list spots.

I will snipe you because it's been stated multiple times by others that he was traded "only" for a 3rd round pick because of his large wage next year.

You have kept going on about lamenting we didn't get a better pick whilst ignoring the fact that his high wage is why we got that pick.

Feel free to continue to post your opinion, but like all forums it's free for others to challenge and question them, just like you can with mine.

Difference in philosophy I suppose. We are in our window so I think we should be making moves to win now rather than loading up on second round draft picks.

We got enough draftees that are contributing nothing. Howes. Laurie. Jefferson. Adams. Verrall. AMW.

Look forward to Melk not being selected and Schache being an unused sub in a finals loss after Melk gives his retirement speech.

I have mentioned his high wage but seems you also missed my earlier posts about what’s the point of freeing up cap space if we don’t have targets to spend it.

Pot Kettle Black mate. Don’t accuse one of ignoring things if you do so yourself.

All those guys selected at picks later than our first two picks this year. Not really the same is it.

People want shiny new toys and they want them now.

Fair point I didn't mention that in my recent reply. As a counter point I would say that players don't get traded unless they want to move. Harmes was not getting opportunity, he wanted to move on and the club was happy to facilitate. They couldn't get a good price for him because of his large wage so they settled for the future third.

The whole point of the exercise wasn't explicitly to free up cap space, but to facilitate a trade that a player wanted.

As had been mentioned earlier by myself and others, we don't have to spend the cap space on a new big name player, we can rejig current contracts so we have extra money to spend on a target next year or the year after.

I don't really want to keep going on about Harmes but leave you right of reply if you wish.

Now Petty possibly going. Awesome! So now our forward saviour is possibly on the move. This trade period running very smoothly hey! Bit surprised Crows going all in on Petty though. Must want him as a backman. Thought their backline was solid enough this season. Could come down to how his foot is healing. 10, 20 and McAdam would be a decent haul for a bloke with a foot issue. But geez it leaves us really shallow down forward. Joel Smith gonna have to kick 80 goals next year!
