If its true we extended him after the foot injury we got we deserved. Like it when teams get punished for dumb decisions.

Still quite amazed we didn't delist at least one of Brown or Tmac. Both have nothing to offer at senior level. Just playing out a sh*tty contract at Casey. Freeing up all this cash surely means we could have gotten rid of one of them early, especially if we're not landing a big fish this offseason.

We can’t delist contracted players.

We should negotiate to make one a forward coach instead of player for similar cash and use soft cap instead however.

Sorry, convince one of them to retire early with full payout. Just getting in the way of Jeffo at Casey. Having them on the list is actually a detriment to our players development. I can probably handle one of them on the list, but both is a shambles.

I know that. That's how much i want them off the list. Happily wear their salary if it means they are not playing. Like i said, we've freed up a bit of cash anyway with the players we've traded away etc. And with no big fish on the horizon, maybe we could have taken a hit of one of them at least being paid out(convinced to retire).

Wasn't his injury undiagnosed for like a year with Neeld forcing him to play through it? Was discovered at the start of 2014, never really got on the park all year before we tried to trade him, failed and then kept him around like a sad puppy for three more years. Played 5 more games for his career.

It's a real shame that deal fell through. We would have picked up Lever three years early for a player who's career was over anyway.

Of all the careers we ruined over those years his is the one I feel the worst about. Looked like a future Melbourne Hall of Famer early days.

More upset we didn't take Dusty that draft though. Trengove always looked a solid player, but Dusty looked a clear 2nd pick. We just didn't want to take on a bloke like him i reckon. Probably for the best as our culture was abysmal, but a small part of me thinks under Roos(if Dusty stuck around) he would have got a hold of him. Anyway, yeah, we f*d Trenners big time. The whole captaincy at 22 thing was shocking enough let alone his injuries.

Fair enough. I get the argument but honestly don't see a huge amount of value in it. It's an annoyance but unless we want to fill their spots on the list it doesn't do a great deal for us.

Not sure I'm sold on the argument about it hurting Jefferson's development. He actually seemed to struggle more when he was the main guy down there.

And I'm not convinced having both at Casey will be good for Jeffo's development. Surely we will be looking to get him a game later next season. With these two muppets taking up space in the F50 at Casey, I struggle to see how that's good for Jeffo's fast track into our F50. Tmac should never play again for AFL or VFL after his finals efforts.

What I don’t like is the extension and thought of matching Adelaide’s apparent offer. They are strong arming us but I think let petty go take the picks and a player and go for Harry Mckay

I'm not sure they are able to achieve anything, that's the problem. We basically have two expensive lame ducks sitting on the list at Casey. And I'm not convinced having both at Casey will be good for Jeffo's development. Surely we will be looking to get him a game later next season. With these two muppets taking up space in the F50 at Casey, I struggle to see how that's good for Jeffo's fast track into our F50. Tmac should never play again for AFL or VFL after his finals efforts.

What shits me the most is that we basically traded away pick 27 as an extra for pick 11 today because we don’t have list spots to bring in youth due to these dinosaurs clogging it.

Probably worked hard to get that off freo for Jackson to just piss it off for next to nothing.

Agree, we are basically gonna burn all our cap space we just freed up for no extra return. In fact return will be less as the bloke now has a broken foot.

Could go either way. Sounds like we are very strong in keeping him. Can see us potentially trading him end of next season if offer is anywhere near as good. But depends on what we have to replace him. Swingman like Petty, especially those just as good either end are hard to come by. With May nearing the end, and our forwardline devoid of any decent talls(apologies to JVR but he's not there yet), Petty is an important player. But with his injury issues, who knows, we could pull the trigger if we somehow give away all our picks for Reid (which is highly doubtful).

We're focusing on the top of the draft for two reasons:

1) It's widely considered to drop off after the top 20
2) We don't need a ton of young speculative players, we need a few top quality ones

Also, the trade period is literally 2 days in.
