Can’t see them getting 2 and 3 so 6, 11 and our F1 could well end up being the best offer. Think they’ll be very tempted by that if they know they’ll get Curtain with 6 and then one of the other WA boys who will be there at 11

If Curtin does indeed slip through 6, you'd want to be very convinced that Reid is going to be at least a Trac-level player in a few years. Curtin is going to be a very good footballer in his own right, let alone adding Pick 11 and another first next year on top of him.

That's the starting point for a negotiations. If WC can throw in a South Australian player, or a later pick to Adelaide, then it might work.

So who plays key forward in 2024 with JVR as we push for Nm 14? Unless Petty is replaced this trade period with a plug and play quality key forward our chances of winning 14 in 2024 are lower than if he is in the team.

If Curtin is actually slipping to 6 you wouldn't be offering more than 6 and a F1 for Reid imo. Would be very happy to take Curtin and keep the rest of our picks.

I was a long-term skeptic on JUH, but watching him last year you could really see the progress and potential. Such a graceful player, excellent on the lead, really good kick for goal, reasonable contest mark. Wouldn't sell the farm for him, but would happily give up 2 first rounders and a bit more if he wanted out.

Is that how it works? A bit simplistic really. Naughton is also excellent. JUH's manager has said that he isn't keen to sign until next season at the earliest.

60.53 for his career, would say he is average at best. Do agree he really started coming on this year, but he isn't a great kick for goal. Harry McKay has better career accuracy FWIW

Richmond supporting mate is a big fan of this bloke, wonder if he's worth a look with a rookie pick? Sounds a good type for our needs potentially. Quick, competitive and reads the play well enough to intercept. 193cm defender who has put on a bit of size the last couple of years.

Agree, really like Curtain, but WC wouldn’t do that. 11 would have to be included as well and then maybe they send pick 23 or their F2 back to us. I’d be happy to do that. Reid will be a superstar

You could also question why Sydney preferred Naughton over JUH.

Montagna is one of the better analysts imo.

Probably yes with the game itself, i feel like he's had some fairly bad takes in terms of list management ect.

idk i hear stuff today like with Ben McKay being a good pickup for Essendon "He’s the number one intercept mark player in the game over the last two years". Probably yes when he's fit to play and is the key defender in a defence with contant traffic. Maybe i'm wrong but always felt on par with King to me, Can read the game but can also offer odd takes

It’s not in JUH’s interests to sign now when he can hope to show further improvement after another preseason and test the market which is why he hasn’t signed. If he said he wanted to extend the Bullies would have done it.

Not necessarily. To get either we'd have to pay more $$ and give up huge draft capital which might have been a Koz or May etc. Very rarely if ever do you get a player of JUH or Naughton's capabilities without well and truly overpaying, which can have a huge knock on effect.

Well they weren't available to us then and we couldn't have afforded either of them over the past two years anyway, so it's not really relevant.

The question is whether they are worth that sort of money and draft capital to play for us in 2025 and beyond and I'm saying almost certainly no. We would have to give up something in other areas to get them.

Absolutely get that, but when people like Montagna are saying he could be in line for the biggest deal ever on what we've seen it doesnt add up. Its absolutely mental. If the Dogs thought he was potentially that good he is a higher priority than Naughton given his age, they would offer him ridiculous money right now.

If we only lose Petty(and obviously the draft hand we have/will have) and received Reid, Darling and McAdam, then I'm all in. I don't think it will happen, but will be interesting to see how it pans out, as I feel WCE would be nuts to just grab 1 quality kid this draft, when they could gain 4-5 over this draft and next.
