Cornes is being very dumb here. Assuming 1. That Adelaide have put pick 10 on the table for Petty and 2. That Eagles would accept 6+10 for Reid. When they've already knocked back 4 and Hawks F1.

Sure it's tempting to consider this if losing Petty is fait accompli, but a lot of this is bullshit.

1. Gunston a better forward than Petty? Absolutely not and especially not for 2023 and 2024 when we're trying to win a flag. Gunston went goalless in 8 games this season. We already have the best medium forward going around.
2. That we can even get pick 1 - North have enough assets to make it happen and wouldn't want to lose Reid you would think.

Is Gunston a better Forward than Petty? Currently Yes
Is he more versatile? No

Gunston only specialises as a forward. Petty can be a defender, wingman, forward, part-time ruck.

You can develop and improve your craft at 23. No such thing at 32.

Would do Petty for 10,14, F4 and McAdam with our pick 42 going back with Petty.

Gives us 2 2nd rounders, 3rd rounders and 4th rounders to play with in 2024

Package up something with 10,11 or 14 to get to to 8 from Geelong and take 6,8,10,14 to the draft.

Try to use 10,14 and F2 to get into pick 3

Draft Watson (3), Sanders (6), Caddy (8) and pickup a cheap forward like Gunston or even have a crack at 193 cm Ash Johnson who can’t get out of the 2s.

Did you watch Gunston this year? He fell off a cliff big time. No way he's currently better than Petty

IF that was the offer, and Petty is telling us he wants to go home, then yes you take that. Zero chance though - that's a superstar package

I think Adelaide could offer 2 firsts. 1 first isn't really enough.

1 first makes no sense for us, even if he leaves in 2025 as a free agent, we will get similar as FA compo, but that’s after enjoying his services for 2 years. If we tank we will get even more.

Has to be 2.

Sorry if pettys worth 2 how much are expecting to pay for JUH? 7?

No chance Adelaide offers two first-rounders for him, unless we attach something else of decent value. He's a handy player, but he's not a superstar.

One pick isn't enough for us with his importance structurally, so we move on and come back next year with a clearer picture of where we stand with him.

He's hardly stamping his feet to leave – Trade Radio just needs some content for what has been an extremely boring period.

He won’t play half of next season with his busted foot anyway.

If they offer us two firsts, and it gets us Reid, McAdam and potentially Wilson/Windsor/DeMattia, we would have to take it.

It would make such a difference to us having good ball users kicking into the 50.

If that's your thinking, why on earth do you also think that Adelaide will offer two firsts?

No idea, same reason they are offering him 1m for next season.

Bugger if I know why they are chasing him like they are.
He's 23 coming in to his prime, proven at both ends of the ground and he's from South Australia.

He's got more short term value to us (injury aside), but Crows can afford to offer big dollars to shore up their backline.

We've got to keep him unless they make a ridiculous offer.

Personally, the fact that they're offering him that kind of money (if true), reassures me that his foot must not be all that bad. Would be irresponsible list management from them, otherwise.

Obviously would still have to do a medical if the trade was happening, but they'd have a pretty good indication already.

lol @ the classic response from the bloke who wants to do nothing and suggests nothing.
Nah just can't be stuffed arguing with you anymore. You reckon pettys gone half the year but Adelaide should pay 2 firsts. Then you rate JUH a future superstar but we'd pay about the same.
