Tim Lamb clearly hates almost every journo there is.
Can we get Lamb to do all of Goody's press conferences. Much more entertaining.

Obviously we don’t know what will happen in the draft and whether that will bring any plug and play for round 1 types.

But if the aim of the trade period is to improve the list I’d give it a mild tick.

Fullerton will be a more effective forward than Grundy would’ve been. It’s a move backwards in case Gawn has a medium or long term injury, but once the decision was made that Grundy and Gawn can’t coexist then a backup ruck of that calibre was a luxury.

Harmes and Jordon (and Dunstan) is a loss of midfield depth and experience. One of pick 6 or 11 is likely to be a midfielder who can play almost immediately. Woewodin and Laurie have shown a bit as mids at VFL level. There would need to be extensive injuries to the midfield in 2024 for this to hurt the team at all. Pickett potentially more midfield time with McAdam and Billings taking up forward time.

McAdam if he can stay fit takes the Melksham role and is an improvement on any other option. Despite Melk’s late season purple patch, given his age McAdam is probably a straight improvement on Melk anyway.

If Billings gets it together he’s got more strings to his bow than a Spargo.

In summary while there’s no big impact acquisition, I reckon there’s lots of moves in there that just add that little bit more to the list.

I will say about this whole spend the cap on a tall forward crap. It's about 20 years our dated, you don't need height. You need 6 forwards who can win one on ones but also pressure and win ground ball. McAdam can beat his opponent in any situation.
That's a win

I don't always agree with you but this is spot on.

I know they were kissed on the D in their first two finals and still could’ve lost the GF, but Collingwood proved this.

Brisbane’s tall forwards are far superior to Collingwood's. Didn’t matter in the end.

Method and structure and contested ability is far more important than how many centimetres the top of your head is from the ground.

If you end up with a Curnow or J.Cameron it’s not a bad thing of course, but you definitely don’t need one.

That’s because he has Tmac, Brown, Grundy and Schache in his way. Even Wayne Carey would struggle with those blokes all up in his space.

Carey would tell them all to **** off out of the 50, and rightly so.

Do you think we will see any more pick swaps ahead of the draft? Feels a bit dead in the water - clubs once again not wanting to shift down the order like last year.

Jefferson probably got told what the pecking order is at Casey . A big reason to say goodby to T-Mac and Brown .

Jefferson draft profile he was 76kg
His showing as 86kg now.

10kg gain is no mean feet and that’s before his first full pre season.

Surely he can get up to Jeremy Cameron’s weight if 89kg after another pre season.

Jye Amiss is listed as 83kg so Jeffo has already past him.

Only question mark would be fitness.

Unfortunately all 10kg he put on is in his hunchback…

Being serious, he definitely looked like he put on quite a bit of size through the year. It’s very hard at 18-19 to put on size and maintain aerobic fitness.

Hey Lampers, in your learned opinion what do you make of Ollie Murphy?

Mock drafts have him going around the 12 mark after the GC academy selections, which is around the mark of our second selection. The read on him is he is a 200 cm 85kg defender from the Samdringham dragons, with great aerial ability.

He is an under the radar selection, who has shown great development in a short time. I know Jason Taylor loves these type of selections (see Jefferson and Fraser 'dont mention the war' Rosman). In an ideal world I would take Curtin at 6 and Caddy at 11, but I wouldnt be surprised if we end up with Sanders at 6 and Murphy at 11.

Sorry, I’ve got no idea about the junior players.

Hopefully club is trying to just increase the value of our future first with all this self-implosion.

Might be worth a straight swap for Norths pick 3 soon.

If i'm a parent of a draftee who gets drafted to Melbourne i'm going to looking for a please explain. I wouldn't want my boy going to a club where one of the leaders is reportedly suffering an addiction of sorts and is bending windscreen wipers, where another player is reportedly doing drugs before a final, where dark clouds have hovered over the coach for years. I'd be looking for answers and please explains even if I wouldn't get it.

this is one of the scenarios glenn bartlett was talking about, which at the time seemed a bit precious, but he's now been proven to have had some valid points / concerns
