I like Duursma more than McKercher, hes more an accumulator while I think Duursma has more game winning tools. We have plenty of accumulators already.

Not saying McKercher is a dud, bit of Zach Merrett about him.

Would love a Merrett in our team! Fantastic ball user compared to our current mids. With his pace I actually think McKercher is like Gulden.

Made the point to say he wasnt a dud. He'll be very good in a team that needs ball winners. As I've said previously, I'm a sucker for upside and with Duursma's ability to take contested marks and hit the scoreboard it should be no surprise that I rank him very highly.

On the sucker for upside theme, if we have a pick in the second round and hes still on the board, I hope we consider Ashton Moir. Disappointing year after being talked about as a top 3 pick, but his game is pretty special when hes on. Well worth a dart throw. Bit of Nathan Brown (Dogs and Richmond version not ours) about him.

Reckon North or Hawthorn will pick up McKercher anyway. Hawthorn need some better mids and North don't know how to pick anything else.

Sounds like North are gunning for McKercher & then hoping to get Sanders with an NGA exemption. If I wear to guess the likely homes, based on what I've read and listened to, could be something like this before our first pick becomes 8.

ROUND ONE
1West Coast - Harley Reid
2Gold Coast - Jed Walter (matching bid)
3North Melbourne - Colby McKercher
4North Melbourne (McKay compo) - Daniel Curtin
5Hawthorn - Nick Watson
6Gold Coast - Ethan Read (matching bid)
7West Coast (Barrass trade to Sydney) - Zane Duursma

Why are West Coast above us after the Barrass trade?

Assuming part of the trade package was the ability to teleport Sydney's first to wherever you want.

If we don’t trade up for 1 I’m betting we’ll be able to trade up to a higher pick just below it.

We’ve got as much capital to spend as anybody and if we don’t use it to get to 1 we should be able to do something else before draft night.

Having two picks inside the top 12 is clearly a preferred strategy for our list team. Hopefully this year we can make one of them a top 5.

Pretty much all the guns gone before our pick. Gold Coast getting an absolute free ride again. They should be winning 5 flags with the list they'll have! We need to get a pick inside this lot tbh. Will ne hugely disappointing if we don't pick up at least one from this lot.

Maybe check the team sheet for the weekend champ

So you think Jordon is ahead of Oliver now?

Happy to trade the pick for Reid if doable, or to package up for GC's pick 5. How good will it be getting the best kid in the game, or two top 10 picks, into an already good team?

Would be more than happy to go Duursma and Curtin, even if the latter ends up being an ace up our sleeve should Reid want to come home and he want to go the other way.

There were a few on here questioning Taylor's record with late picks and KPFs, but of these seem to have been answered this season with McVee/Chandler doing good things in the 1s and JVR really stepping up. We'll have a stack of seconds, especially if Grundy goes, and Taylor's record there is probably his strongest.

Essendon could gas this and put the Harley Reid talk to bed. North would be no chance to trade pick 1 if they ended up with it.
Until we go down to North tomorrow, at which point discussions re-open. :sneaky:

Do you think questions will be raised if we see Grundy lining up in the back pocket?
