Harley Reid stepped up to the VFL level and dominated through the midfield for Essendon in this game. Matched the physicality, winning tough hard footy at the contest, then showed his absolute class on the outside. Took a mark of the season contender to top off a fantastic day.

Unfortunately the audio quality of the broadcast was terrible.

Decent hanger on the wing. Pretty exciting footage, those don't argues as a teenager against adults make me horny, imagine how much he embarassed people when he gets an AFL weight program into him.

Big Game Zane is on some kind of hot streak, starting with the final Champs game and seemingly sparked by his move back to a full time forward. He was unstoppable in this game, booting a big bag of 6 goals as his Gippsland Power team dominated a Harleyless Bendigo Pioneers.

It was back to the forward line full time this week for Caddy and he responded with an excellent display of contested marking and sharpshooting on goal.

Hi all,
Pardon for the intrusion- I was wondering what the prevailing theories were in here relating to your first pick in this draft?

It seems like the goal is to move up and take Reid, but I'm wondering who else might be there abouts with your first pick were that to not eventuate? Judging from the last couple pages it seems like Duursma is your man, but is there any other that your club is watching closely?

Dan Curtain a popular name amongst the board, seems there is some talk about that the club likes Watson though, whether thats the truth or not im not sure.

As a board id say we have Caddy and Duursma as our clear heart set on top two. Would be happy enough with Curtain or McKercher also.

I remain completely unconvinced on Caddy, would be pretty upset if we decided to spend a top 5 pick on him.

We have a few list needs. In the last draft we took key position players so Jason Taylor inferred that we would chase midfielders at next years draft (this year). That said, our key position players were speculative picks (Jed Adams pick 38 or something) and Will Verrall a rookie so I'm sure we won't be banking on them.

A case could be made that we need a key defender for life after May, more midfielders to keep replenishing the list and offer some more depth in there, a ruckman to replace Gawn/Grundy. A small forward to play alongside kozzie and replace spargo/melksham etc. We'll go best available.

Interesting flicking around various clubs’ draft and trade threads. Quite a few have their eye on GC’s pick 5, just like us. Going to be hotly contested and maybe not worth it in the end the bidding war gets ridiculous.

Word is we aren't as enamoured with Reid as others and are very keen on Watson.
I think the club is working towards a second top 10 pick to try and nab Watson and Duursma and I'd say right now this is the most popular theory/combo going for us.
It's a weird one where everyone is stoked with how our midfield is performing so the need for reid isn't as strong, but people are still hoping to nab him and or two top 10 forwards.

This is super interesting- do you think Mckercher will factor into your pick at all?

Obviously I don't know what Jason Taylor is thinking but I'd imagine McKercher would be snapped up by us in a heartbeat if he was available. Which I doubt he will be. He is the classy midfielder that we don't have. He would compliment the likes of petracca, Oliver, Viney in the short term and ideally become an A grader when they're all done.

If we can get Duursma and/or Caddy I'd be stoked. As it is, I don't see that Reid is that much better than Duursma so as to justify trying to trade up for pick 1 if Duursma will last to pick 4. Will spew if Duursma goes in the top 3 (or 4, if North get a PP) given that we would possibly end up with pick 3 if we hadn't lost to Freo.

That's fair. I can't seen anyway that we'd get 2 of these players though. We only have 1 high pick, our 2nd pick will be pick 15-18 unless we trade up. somehow. Caddy will be snapped up by 7-12 I'd imagine.

Also, I hope we're doing everything we can to get Zak Butters defect a year ahead of his contract expiry, while we have the draft capital, given how into him we allegedly were in his draft. Particularly if we end up offloading any of the cap space being taken up by Grundy/BBB/TMac.

He's a ****ing star and more or less what you'd hope Reid/Duursma/Caddy would develop into anyway given his ability to do damage up forward (though obviously more undersized). Between picks 4, 15-18 and 22, I reckon we'd be a pretty decent chance if we can get Port worried that he'll leave next year to a club who gives them less.

Not a chance Port trade him. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

What if Tom Sparrow and Brodie Grundy want to go back to South Australia?
what if GIF

On second thoughts how could they resist that?
I’m willing to throw in Petty as a sweetener but only if he never recovers from his foot injury. I’ll commence negotiations this evening. If talks break down, I’ll CLOSE THE LAPTOP and send in danster.
