GWS looking to salary dump Whitfield- no way we'd have the salary to cop him but how boss would it be to grab him, nab another early-ish pick then ship our hand off for Harley Reid. A man can dream.
If anyone should be salary dumping it should be us with Grundy. 4 more years at 600k with his last 2 years when he's 32 and 33. This is why we were essentially paying him 1.1million dollars per season as I reckon he'll be cooked after 30 (if not already).

Whitfield would be an excellent acquisition. Essentially an upgrade on Hunter but would also slot in nicely off a half back flank. Reckon he’d relish a few seasons playing regular footy on the wider expanses of the G not to mention in front of actual footy crowds.

I never come into this thread because it's usually full of rubbish, mostly from you.
I am now reminded why. As if we are going to offload Grundy after 1 year. He hasn't even been bad, we just aren't using him well (like half our list).

I didn't say we would...

How should he be used? He's not a forward. He hasn't been bad. He hasn't been good either. I don't think he's justified his expensive contract.

He should be used as a ruck. I know nothing about rotations and time on ground but if this move to have both these rucks is to increase their longevity, why do we need them both on the ground at the same time? Can we have one always resting on the bench? (This is a genuine question, I assume it would screw the rotations and time on ground for the other players of we did this, which is why we don't do it).
Both players are fit enough to cover the whole ground, particularly if they are playing 50-60% game time. Neither then needs to go near the forward 50 (unless to ruck) - all they do in there is gum up the works and miss easy set shots.

Jack ginnivan?
Still contracted until next year. I don’t even know anymore. This team is killing me atm haha

Wasn't there stuff about us having some cash to throw around. Would love Whitfield. Just what we need

Just looking at the playing group. My predictions:

Delistings
16 Laurie (may get re-rookied. Weid is no longer JT's worst 1st round pick. If you can't get a regular kick in your third year then you are an absolute bum!)
27 Dunstan (only stays if Jordon goes)

Retirements
14 Hibberd :'(
18 Melksham :D
50 Brown (I reckon they will entice him with a juicy AFLW coaching gig to ease the transition)

Lucky to stay
4 Harmes
19 Schache stays due to lack of KPP

I don't see T-Mac retiring. He seems like a stubborn prick that will not see the writing on the wall.

I'd be surprised if Jordon stays, I see him being offered a better gig elsewhere.

Tomlinson will be encouraged to shop around ala Harmes last year.

Not commenting on the players that haven't debuted. I don't watch VFL so I know nothing about them.

Sorry to pop in fellas but looks like the pick from Freo is almost a certain top 5 pick with the way their fixture is for the rest of the season if they lose to us this week, what's the general consensus on types you'll be after? Bit more pace through the middle? KPF to address some Fwd line issues? Half back with good kicking skills?

Not sure what the Dees are gonna be doing this off season so just curious to know what supporters generally think. Twomey said he thinks you'll be major players this year with a fair bit of cap space and draft picks

I'm pretty firm on us taking our picks to the draft unless we're trading them for under 25 talent.

In terms of needs we desperately need to draft midfielders and maybe even a KPD. I've got faith in JVR long term, Jefferson is a project player and I'd like us to get a mature aged guy in as long as he's an upgrade on Brown/McDonald (Not difficult). McVee coming on this year helps us off half back but always up for more good ball users.

In a perfect world we'd move Brayshaw on and go for Ben McKay but that won't happen.

Ben McKay sucks.

Ben McKay sucks.

I was going to ask - what’s this obsession a few posters have got with Ben McKay? Seems like classic “his brother is good so he must be good” syndrome. Ie. Oscar McDonald, Cameron Cloke and David Kernahan.

Nothing special from what I’ve seen.

IDK

I just don’t think he is good enough to justify the $750-900k price tag that the media is pushing.

He is not a match winner. Doesn’t win many games at all haha

I reckon trying to shake Tom Barrass out of WCE is a better move.

100% would take Barrass ahead of McKay.

Literally anybody would take Barrass ahead of McKay, but he's not a free agent and would require significant trade capital
Not sure about that. McKay gets talked up all the time. Barrass still fairly underrated in the East imo. Would be interested to see how McKay goes in a decent side though. Not sure if he's any good or not tbh.

Barrass is 28 next year and won't be part of the Eagles next flag.

If he and the Eagles are willing, I reckon a 1st round pick would get it done.
Heavily linked to the Swans, as he has been previously. But yes, I would take him for sure.

Don’t know what Barass’ leadership skills are like.

If he’s a good leader and teacher WC should probably keep him around (if he wants to stay).

If he’s just one of those good players that doesn’t bring much else then they should offload him if they can get a decent pick.

They can’t argue he helps their competitiveness when he played in the 171 loss to Sydney and the 108 loss to Carlton.

I can’t see Melbourne getting him although it would be nice.
