Next year our options include; Petty, Chandler, JVR, Pickett, Petracca and we bring back Fritsch.

Jefferson will improve
and might get a game late in the year, and we are every chance of drafting Duursma as a third tall and Watson as a small.

I don’t think our forward line is totally stuffed - it’s been more about the way we bring the ball in.

Few issues here.

That forward line grouping looks very thin to me. Petracca is not at the late stage of his career where we can afford for him to spend bulk minutes in attack. Also, as Danster pointed out May will be 33yo next season and a hammy away from Petty replacing him permanently. Lastly, Jefferson improving to the point he can hold down key forward is a total unknown. We probably won’t know either way for another two seasons at least.

Your assessment that “our forward line isn’t totally stuffed” isn’t exactly a ringing endorsement of what we have available. Recruiting a mature bodied KPF seems a pressing need from where I sit, something we should have done last season instead of this weird Grundy experiment.

I reckon you could do [PLAYERCARD]Tom Doedee[/PLAYERCARD] and Jake Riccardi for the same sort of coin as [PLAYERCARD]Harry McKay[/PLAYERCARD]. Are they superstars? No, but they can do a job better than Brown/TMac or Tomlinson... Yeah, I know Doedee won't be back until mid next year.

Riccardi is one that's been raised a fair bit, don't hate it - good size and age for us, but I don't think Doedee and Lever can both play in the same backline, we really need a more stay at home gorilla defender IMO.

Don't disagree, probably more of a concept than a well constructed plan. :😜

Give me Jake Riccardi or [PLAYERCARD]Mitch georgiades[/PLAYERCARD] over McKay any day.

My Carlton supporting friends don’t even rate him. The only time I’ve heard Carlton fans rate him was after Saturdays game when they wanted to try and name as many outs as possible to make it look better

If we take the Freo pick to the dradt I wonder if we’ll look at Curtin. West coast will probably be desperate for him. May is getting older and I’m not sure how highly Turner x 2 and Adams are rated by the club. Curtin looks a great prospect.
He wouldn't get passed North Melbourne.

Yeah Curtin looks unreal, but I think West Coast have him firmly locked into their plans. Lots of people saying WC won't trade pick 1 unless they get pick 2 as part of the deal.
And some, extra. North will have to grab the List cheque book out for hReid.

I'm not saying that it has to be mcKay either. But we need to try and poach a key forward. A decent one.
Actually, I'm in the opposite corner Dnstr.

I think we need a mature tall key defender to find, like most clubs do. A tall, man on man stopper. Adams isn't ready by a long way... We need to find a James Frawley type deal.

forget bMcKay... don't touch it with you know what.

I agree that we also need a key defender. Enter Connor O'Sullivan, I'd be more than happy to take with a top 5 pick. 198cm key defender who is currently a top 10 prospect.

McKay is a coleman medallist. A few yips doesn't change the fact that he's got talent though.

Is it at all possible that TMc ends his career as a backman.?

Just a thought, as I suggested i think last year. Esava Ratugolea... as mature key talls are hard to find.

A role playing tall, who is robust... 198cms and powerful.

I reckon we are struggling with Lever, nowadays; as he's not the best attacking defender, Nor is he a man on man tall. Nowhere else to hide him.
He's just a percentages man, and he's been getting a lot of plays wrong over the past 12 months. He's be better in the stock-market, than our backline.

The only thing I like about hMcKay is he such a reliable high mark... which is just what we need. BUT I think the rest of him is QUESTion-able. see in the mold of joey Daniher. unreliable.

I would leave both McKay twins for others to ponder.

I think young Adams is a bright prospect, but is a long way off with his body. So imo, we need a mature tall substitute to play down back. So Conner O'sullivan might be too far off, on a needs basis.

I would ponder Curtin, as he's a swing-man extrordinare.

I hear you. Curtin looks a bit like a flanker to me. O'Sullivan is bigger and stronger and seems more ready from that sense. Either way, we're going to get a highly touted player so it's exciting.
