Petruccelle as a cheap option for a HFF may be would be worth a punt. Don't think he'd be a wing for us, Hunter and Lingers have been excellent and agree with others that footspeed itself is overrated. Good skills and smarts is more important to moving the ball quickly than fast runners.
But there is possibly a spot to take from, or rotate with, Spargo/Laurie/whoever up forward.

New contract literally 4 days ago. Very interesting though that he’s referred to as a speed ‘demon’ 👀

In the mix for GC pick 4. Wondering if we are trying to go hard and land the two players we want at 4 and 5.

Would we possibly do:

Future 1st, Pick 15, Pick 24
For GC Pick 4

Not sure what that equates to in points, but seems fair on paper? May need another sweetener.

Gold Coast want points in this years draft

Assume would have to trade next years first with another club for extra picks this year

I wonder who other posters would like to see us select in the dream scenario we end up with picks 4 & 5 in this draft.

For me it would be Duursma & O’Sullivan.

First kid’s a no brainer from the displays he’s putting on plus his height for a modern day midfielder. He’s got that Bont type build to fill out into.

O’Sullivan at 198cm the prospect of a 12 year, athletic linchpin key defender too good to pass up with May now 32yo. Kid looks an absolute beauty.

Plus allows Petty to swing forward pretty much full time from next season onward.

I’d be going all chips in to get that GC pick 5.

Basically agree with these picks tbh. Duursma looks excellent and can swap with Trac fwd/mid, and I’m very worried about May already starting to decline so we need to address the KPD issue ASAP (Also as you say fixes the forward setup with Petty going there full time).

Colby was delivering another banger of a game, but ended up having a bit of a torrid time with injury. Had his bell rung from an awkward collision midway through the second after which he got up shaking his head and spent a period on the bench. Was noticeably quieter after that incident. Finally had his afternoon ended by a nasty looking ankle injury early in the third which required him to be carried from the field.

My current order of preference (which keeps changing a lot this year) is probably;

McKercher
Curtin
Duursma
Watson
O’Connor
Sanders

2 of those kids are going to be gone by pick 4 and I strongly suspect Durdin will be taken by WC.

We would have a very nice dilemma at 4 and 5 either way.

This kids acceleration through traffic reminds me of a young Chris Judd. Would be very happy with him.

Presuming you mean Curtin?

Love his kicking technique and touch. Would be more than happy with him, he looks like exactly what we need as a genuine mid with elite foot skills and balance weighted more to the outside.

If either or both of McKercher or Duursma are available at our first pick, I would prefer us to solely pick based on who we feel the better player with the higher ceiling will be, rather than bring ‘needs’ into the equation.

‘Needs’ is how you end up picking a Scully over Dustin Martin, a Billings over a Bontempelli, a McCartin over a Petracca.

Just pick the guy you think has got the biggest chance to develop into a superstar. Best available > Needs. Especially in that top 5.

RACE HEATS UP FOR PICK SALE

MELBOURNE, Sydney and the Western Bulldogs all loom as contenders for Gold Coast's prized pick No.4, which is on the trade table.

The Suns are auctioning off their top pick as it will be swallowed up by matching a bid on Academy trio Jed Walter, Ethan Read and Jake Rogers, as well as Will Graham later in the draft.

A bid for Walter could come in the first three picks, which will see the Suns trade the selection for the highest bidder.

Melbourne's hand of picks 15, 24 and 34 after their first pick (No.5, tied to Fremantle) gives it 2439 points, while the Swans currently hold picks 12, 22, 31, 41 and 50 in the first three rounds (3131 points).

The Western Bulldogs' position inside or outside the finals will likely shape their interest for the selection, with the Dogs currently holding two first-round picks (No.10 and 17) that are worth 2420 points.

If the Dogs wanted to ensure they get in a selection before a bid on father-son prospect Jordan Croft, the Suns' pick looms as an option.

Essendon and Adelaide are also expected to be in the market for the Suns' selection.

Sydney list boss Kinnear Beatson last week told Gettable that the Swans were "absolutely" interested in trading for the pick, which would guarantee access to one of the top talents in the draft pool.

“We'll look at all options and we're exploring all of them at the moment. We'll catch up with the Gold Coast boys, Kall Burns and Craig Cameron, and have a bit of a chat about what they're looking for to be able to do that," Beatson said.

"[We can] see if one, we can facilitate it or whether we need to hold those picks for trades or whatever. There's a fair bit to play out in the next months."

We will have even more points if we can extract a decent draft pick for Grundy. “All chips in” should be our attitude to getting this GC pick 5. Would be a massive coup.

Imagine winning the 2023 flag then sitting our arses at the draft table with selections 4 & 5 to add to our list. Rival clubs and supporters will have a collective hernia.

I'm after Sanders only so we can call him "the Colonel" and scream out "Did somebody say KFC?!!?" every time he takes a mark.
We'd have to have KFC as a sponsor though who I think sponsor both Richmond and Collingwood? Which is a bit weird. I'd want an exclusive KFC sponsorship I don't want to share with minnows.

It'd be glorious. I've longed for us to be hated [emoji23]

If we are mad keen then we could always trade next years first or second for some extra picks this year.

I’m not against it, particularly given the feedback on next years top end potentially being a little light for talent.

OR, If North get pick2 given to them, maybe a deal with them.

However i sense that the AFL would like to see Curtin land with the Eagles.

Future 1st, Pick 15, Pick 24
For GC Pick 4

I would prefer we keep our 2nd pick this year (P15).

Gold coast are after points this year aren't they.?

So
Future 1st, Pick 24, Pick 34, Future 2nd, + a Mfc listed player. eg: Grundy, & TMc, free on his last year of contract.
For GC Pick 4.
GC could on-trade our future picks, if needed.

Or we could buy them back next season, with players/picks?

Not sure Mick McGuane is overly clued in on this type of stuff but in his potential trade targets list today he had Harrison Jones from Essendon listed. Can't say I've closely followed him but he was highly rated and looked good before this year. Wonder what they'd want for him? We'll need some more tall options on the list to replace Brown, Tmac, Grundy and hopefully Schache.
