He's behind Draper, who is only 24, so moving to the Dees to be second fiddle to Max (and learn from him) for 1-2 years makes sense to me.

Fullarton from Brisbane could be another cheap option if the priority is more 'Forward-Ruck' than 'Ruck-Forward'.

The other guy I wouldn't mind a look at is Chris Burgess at the Suns. Stuck in the VFL and lead the comps goal kicking two years straight.

Contracted till the end of next year but really just a depth player for the Suns especially with Walter coming in.

Also a good call, as is Fullarton. Assuming Grundy leaves I think we definitely need a young KPF/Ruck who can chop out Max and be good enough to take over from him in a couple of years.

That's the thing. Because of his size he's very heard to find a good match-up for as a defender. If you put a small on him, he is got long arms and great forward-craft, a tall on him he is agile and can run circles around him.

Bit of left-field idea, how about another Jake Melksham type forward?

Quite like this. Had been improving season on season until this year. Jed Walter also about to arrive at Suns. Second round pick? Just got to be sure it doesn’t interfere with our play for GC pick 4.

TBF Jefferson got offered and signed a second contract, Cook never got that.

I don't think we re-sign him now if we don't like what we have seen.

Jefferson seems to have some reasonable confidence and self-awareness in the interviews I've seen - confident in his game but knows he needs to build his tank, size, and trying to improve as a player.
Seems he's at least got the right mindset to give himself a good shot

I think he'll be fine, I've liked the glimpses I've seen, only thing I'd say though is that maybe he doesn't become your usual KPF, might project as more of a Westoff type, where he's tall but plays more as a third tall.

Yeah, Jefferson was always going to be a long-term development project with that frame.

Hopefully they actually prioritise his development in the VFL next year and say goodbye to the dinosaurs

The bloke appeared to be written off, got a weird gig as a sub one time, and now a contract extension.

You’d think Melbourne would wait to see how things play out with Grundy, Brown, etc. before extending a guy who would get zero offers elsewhere.

Maybe some deals and movements are already signed, sealed and delivered?
