We should be looking to upgrade our picks at all cost, and this is an opportunity to turn a F2 into a F1 so we should take it.

The way Port are carrying on here, they can’t risk the embarrassment for them to not get a deal done now after the prancing around they have now done.

Sorry to be blunt but have you ever heard the expression “wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first?”

Apply that to your Grundy trade hopes.

We will have cash from Tomo (500k), Harmes (550k), Jordan (200k), Melksham, Hibberd, Brown if he retires, Levers on a new contract probably on less cash now and Gawn/Mays contracts are slowing up soon.

We need to keep our list as optimised as possible while we are in our window, not piss off players because he is sooking it up after a few matches in the VFL because he couldn’t take a mark
Yes because everyone we re-signed this year including Pickett Rivers etc are all on the exact same money as before 👌

Not if we settle but that’s another conversation. Point is we have enough cap space as it is and a heap more freeing up in the next 1-2 years.

Degrading our team because Port are begging and the bloke had a few matches in the VFL, despite contracted has decided to sook it up makes no sense. Despite us giving him a lifeline when Collingwood threw him to the curb.

We don’t even need to engage in conversations to trade him.
That's not how settling works. It still counts to our cap we just don't actually pay the money

It’s either that or pick 37 which could push out after FA/FS/NGA. F1 or basically a 3rd rounder.

Then we would need to ontrade that 3rd rounder for a new ruck who isn’t as good. Basically degrading our list quality when we hold the cards.

I would be asking for F1, we can throw them back our pick 35 so it’s essentially a pick upgrade, or rates Grundy as a pick in the 20s which is what we originally paid.
Future 1st? Lol...

We've banished the bloke to VFL level because hes one dimensional and besides playing ruck he's useless anywhere else on the ground.

Name one more example a club has paid a 1st round pick for a ruckman that's wasting away at VFL level?

Tarryn Thomas from north for our first? Good fit imo.

Would be a difference maker for us. Imagine him instead of Sparrow or Laurie. But, massive risk, massive reward.

You know they have future picks and may also bring in some picks by trading a player or two?

We might get more than what we paid for Grundy if hes happy to go to Port OR Sydney (with us paying some of his salary). But if hes settled on one club I dont think we have a chance.

Send him up to Sydney on a first class flight since hes already done the grand tour of Adelaide, feel his man bun will be accepted more in NSW.

Tom Morris said North will be playing a hard bargain with Thomas and will be expecting a mid to late first rounder.

No thanks.

If we made the granny id be tempted to offer our own first if we aren't using it on another deal.

Don't get me wrong, his talent is enormous and theres untapped potential. Like his first few games at AFL level this year was ridiculous good. But it's off field stuff that worries me the most especially if we burnt a first rounder on him.

I think id be happy offering our first aswell. Pretty sure he was found not guilty of his charges so apart from being a bit of a party boy doesn't sound like he's anything that crazy. He's definitely a midfielder at his best we won't have access to a while if we keep finishing higher up. I'd be more leaning towards pulling the trigger than not.

Sometimes you gotta back the club in, or assume he will grow up, guy is only 23 still lets not forget.

Can we get a player as talented at pick ~ 17-20 ish? I highly doubt it.

That's the main one, when you're talking risk you can't ignore the risk a draftee might just be shit anyway. Steven may sounds like a flog drunk but I'll have him at FB any day he still wants

If Thomas didnt have off field issues you'd be looking at 2 firsts and 1 of them being in the 5-7 range id think.

Any talk of us doing it is a longshot anyway until we hear something, we likely have other plans with what they are doing with our own first. Just saying if using that pick to trade for GC's pick 4 fell thru its something id like to think we'd look at.

I didn't watch 148, I was a ski resort. Remember thinking before it hey new era, tough hard coach first season was weeding the scum and bad habits and it's all coming up millhouse now

Then I checkes the score in the morning 🌈
I was probably still in my seat when you checked the scores. :embarrassedv1:

With a smile on your face starring blankly into space. Waiting for security or the cleaners telling you you have to leave.

Imagine a world where Port didn't have the trade capital to satisfy us for Grundy, but had the cap room to offer us a token late pick but 200k over and above the 650k which we could inject into our cap. 99% sure you can't do that, but would be an interesting scenario nonetheless
