I’d do that in a heartbeat which makes me think North wouldn’t. It’d effectively give us Harley Reid.
How does it give us Reid? More likely to give us Curtin or Duursma who id love anyway.

I’d like us to get the Suns pick (4) and offer 4 & 5 for Reid. I suspect WC wouldn’t accept it in which case I’d draft Watson and O’Sullivan.

Shore up attack & key defence for next 10-12 years.

Pickett/Watson/McAdam would be freaking exciting!

West Coast will take Curtin IMO. They're apparently open to trading pick 1 as long as it ends up with them having pick 2 as part of the end deal. WA teams are always obsessed about the go home factor.

Don't know about that. Who has West Coast lost to the 'go-home factor' in the last 10 years? As a whole, their player retention has been excellent.

There's no way West Coast are taking Curtin with pick 1. Maybe they trade for pick 2 and extra but if that's the case Reid is basically guaranteed to play for North anyway.

Personally would love to see any trade for Reid happen just to see how the Eagles board react as they've built themselves up to get about three times as much as they got for Judd from any trade.

I more meant it's something they seem to really put weight into - Often their trade targets are 'go home' factor players.

Would open up dealing with Eagles for 1
We'd only have next years ff to deal with and Freos second you'd think. If that's what it took to get it done North wouldn't be trading pick 2.

Also means we're essentially trading three firsts and an early second for Reid. Is he really worth that much when we would have access to Curtin/Duursma anyway?

Imo we should be trying to get the McKay compo. Reckon that's the best avenue for getting to the top end of the draft.
Yep, I'd rather do 5 and 15 (or F1) for 3—securing one of Duursma or McKercher—than settle for a Watson/Caddy type.

WC are picking Reid at 1 unless they get an extraordinary deal in return. An overs deal.

It would need to be picks 2 & 3 from North as a starter. They might except 2 & 4 or 5.

They’ll want Reid alone or Curtin and a choice of McKercher/Duursma.

I don’t see us in the running unless we do something really unwise and sell our entire farm.

North would be negligent if they did that deal.

I agree.

That’s why personally I think Reid will be a West Coast player. If you look at the various scenarios involving WC, North, Hawthorn and even us, none of of them seem to quite fit or work as a win-win. Go to the North and WC supporter forum boards. They are ridiculously far apart on what they would regard as a ‘satisfactory outcome’.

A club is going to have to mortgage it’s future significantly to land Reid. I just can’t see it happening. Too much risk and downside.

West Coast supporters are bloody delusional with what they think pick 1 is worth. Adrian Dodorro would be calling them hard to deal with. If a deal is made it will be well below what they think they'll get which would be fun to watch.

Firstly I’ll say I come in peace.

I think everyone’s overvaluing pick 1 on our board given in almost any scenario other than North (2 and 3 for 1 is just not happening) selecting Curtin is just not possible as North seem keen on him.

And yes, if a realistic sort of deal (I.e not a deal any of us really want to see) were to take place it will be a rather entertaining watch as many people, myself included would explode in flames.
This Is Fine GIF

Yeah, personally I reckon you should just take Reid and back yourselves anyway. Would be a bloody rockstar in Perth and would never wanna leave imo.

That is the dream. The fact he’s a country kid has me a bit more optimistic that we can get him to stay, even though our last captain is a VIC Metro boy. Our retention rates really good, but the go-home factor does look like it’s only gonna become more prominent into the future

He might as well go get "Such is Life" tattooed on his abs before draft day!
Being from Bendigo he probably gets a glass pipe as a graduation present.

Talk that port are looking at splitting their FF to get Grundy and Ratugolea across. Maybe just cut out the middle man and offer them Grundy and a second for their FF.

Just suggested on the trades forum, our 5 + 15 for north's pick 2

Interesting, would depend on how we rate the players
No Way; would I do that this year.

I would do P5 + future P1... for Norths P2, or P3. That's all I would give up for a single pick.

I would try to do the much discussed trade with GCS desire for points, to try for GCS P1.

Our 1st pick this year, P15ish, will be a vg player... I feel it in my socks.

Not worth that.

All knees, and ankles, and back/head into one basket of eggs.

Get the Rat in R&B... if at all possible.

We would need a pick in return from Port.

OR...

Wait for the Swans to up their Ante for Grundy.

Should offer up Pickett and pick 5 for Oscar Allen
