Feel for Tomo, tried to turf him last year, treat him crap all of this season and then decide to keep him as insurance at the last second. Who knows if he even gets a game next year.
Even though he is an absolute spud of the highest order, if there was ever an injury to May or Lever it would mean that we don't have to move Petty back into defence.

Our backline functions better when May and Lever have someone else to help them out. That's been clear all season despite the club doing everything they could to try and avoid the bleeding obvious.

I think we're all just overreacting. if we actually kick straight, we beat collingwood, we make the granny and probably win the whole thing.

Those are totally seperate issues but okay.

Can you imagine the outrage from the media if we said to Grundy he was required as depth and we wouldn't entertain a trade.

yeah, I know. but every team has issues. in terms of Tomlinson, I don't think he is an AFL calibre player. He's is slow and makes poor decisions. The less we notice him the better. I would've thought Daniel Turner would be much better. He's quicker, harder and more athletic. He's not as big which I get but I think he'd improve quickly if given a string of games. So I'm not against retaining Tomlinson but I think I would've been totally fine with him leaving.

I think with another pre-season Turner will probably overtake Tomlinson since Tomo has been on the outer for most of the year anyway and Turner showed some decent signs against Sydney.

And anger from the dees fans :)
Not on Grundy's behalf though ;)

Tomlinson played vs Carlton

D Turner and Jed Adams are both potentially capable of becoming senior defenders in the coming years so if we can grab O’Sullivan in this draft I think we can iron out any big defensive concerns before they occur.

I just hope we try to bring in a couple of running mids with this draft hand as well - and not reach for another gamble KPF that we can keep the forward pocket lob kick game plan going with.

No stats here on goal assists or inside50 disposal efficiency, these stats just show he gets a lot of it where our issues are how it is used.
4 BnF's in an era where he's played alongside Gawn and petracca show that he is probably the best demon of all time. For all of the talk about Oliver's kicking. It's still better than Trac's and obviously Gawn's imo.

Incredible player. Mid coach needs to work on getting him to use his power and speed to break away from stoppage again. Was a huge advantage in 2021. Maybe Trac forward will mean the option to do that is greater, but he's the greatest contested player we've ever seen at our club. Absolute beast

Could there be smoke around Petty? I didn’t think there would be but this Tomlinson news got me starting to wonder a bit.

Especially with the premium now on key backman, could a club be potentially putting forward a real lucrative offer to his management behind the scenes? Considering the numbers we see being thrown around for McKay.

I'd imagine Tomlinson staying is almost certainly due to Petty being earmarked as a forward. If Tomlinson were to leave and Petty turned into a full-time forward, our KPD stocks would then be a 32-year-old Steven May and Jed Adams, with Lever and Turner as intercept types.

There's no way we'd trade a contracted Petty with the current state of our KPFs.

Pardon the intrusion.

Could you see a deal being done for Spargo?
I would've been happy for him to look elsewhere, but it seems likely that we'll have quite a few experienced players heading for the exits this year, so I'd probably rather we hold onto him as depth.

That being said, he could probably be had fairly cheaply if the club were happy to move him on.
