Nothing in the media doesn't necessarily mean nothing is happening. Wouldn't crack it just yet.
Hardly cracking it. Just know we need to do more than McAdam. Even a fake news story about us being into something big was more interesting than what we're currently doing. Give us something Lamby! I'll even take pick swaps right now :)

I'll likely join you in cracking it if all we do is McAdam tbh.

10 whole new pages since last time i read!? Oh boy some gun player must have requested a trade to us or something exciting must have happened

Imagine returning to just 1 or 2 new pages, how disappointed you’d feel. At least you got the thrill of unwrapping 10 prezzies even if there was stuff all in ‘em.

Is this what you tell your kids on Christmas?

Jesus the biggest trade news this year just dropped (Spargo going nowhere) and blokes are still complaining.

Just can’t make some people happy.

Somebody needs to tell Tim Lamb that siting static is not good. If you're standing still, you're going backwards. Why are we sucking/twiddling our thumbs?

The free agent pool is shallow.

Also I can't see many established players wanting to nominate Melbourne after the club broke all their promises to Grundy about making him a pillar of our team for the next 5 years.

Seems we have relegated ourselves to the draft table and trying to find value in fringe players like McAdams.

Doubt players would give a shit about a broken promise if they were offered 1.2m a year.

Cry me a river, our game plan changed. It happens in every team.

If a company offered you 1.2m a year would you say no because they changed their plans and a past employee felt he had his promise broken? Because I wouldn’t give a shit.

Don't think anyone will care about that. A bad call from both parties. Not the first club to make a bad trade.

Seems like we're not actually interested in getting involved in any trades which is even worse imo.

Trade period might just kill me this year. We haven't even reached the first day of TWO AND A HALF WEEKS and we're melting and trading one of our greatest ever players, despite having an excellent draft hand.

Kinda longing for finishig 18th and every player who couldn't get a game at other clubs is our white knight, like the good old days

Need some trade scenarios mate

Ok here is one from some bloke on main board

I am hearing Melbourne are enquiring about Bailey Williams and Jamieson (WCE)

2 different ends of the spectrum in regards to cost

Prepared to offer a late first for B.Williams

Jamieson for a pretty late pick (pick upgrade)

B.Williams to be the Ruck/Fwd for a few years and then take over Gawns spot in a few

Jamieson as pure back up break glass case

Doubt players would give a s**t about a broken promise if they were offered 1.2m a year.

We didn't offer Grundy $1.2m a year. He took paycut to come here after we heavily courted him during the middle of last season.

How could this not harm how the club is perceived by established players and their agents?

So what's the clubs pitch gonna be now?

"Oh hey! I see you are in the best 22 at your current club. Want to nominate a trade to us? We will play you for 5 weeks, crack the sads and then demote you to the VFL and harm your future prospects!"

If Melbourne is throwing $1.2M at a new recruit, presumably other clubs are tabling similar offers. All things being equal, why choose Melbourne?

That would be a very simplistic way of looking at it though. Do you think people wouldn’t look at the whole Grundy scenario and the risks he took coming to us?

That's an overreaction. Grundy didn't take a pay cut of even one cent. He still makes the same as Collingwood

Second of all we've been happy to move him immediately. No one would care about that at all, it's like your washing Grundy of any responsibility. He was crap

Was hoping we'd have a crack at Waterman from WCE or Mclean from Swans. I think both have signed on though.

Bailey Williams probably isn't a bad option for that 2nd ruck role. Although hard to see WCE letting him go. Still young and showed some real promise this year. No NicNat means they need a ruck.

Media reported he took pay cut to move.

"Sources with a knowledge of the talks between the Grundy camp, Collingwood and Melbourne said Grundy would accept a small reduction, probably annually, over the remaining five years of the contract he signed with the Magpies, who will also pay a portion of the contract."

Ok well if that's true I'll take that back but still sounds like he's ok 800k plus. So no tears from me.

Bailey Williams (WCE) is ****ing shit. Will ****ing melt if we give up a late first - even if it’s pick 30 after all of the bullshit handouts - for that shit truck.
