Flynn would be a great fit. UFA, good age range to be behind Max for a year or two but then hopefully he ready to be No.1.

Sam Edmund and Tom Morris just confirmed on Trade Radio that there is absolutely no substance to Melbourne potentially in the market for Ben King, Aaron Naughton or Oscar Allan.

Edmund went on to explain that he was speaking to someone influential inside Melbourne and the focus will be blooding and giving the kids more opportunities at senior level.

If we're actually keen on anyone of note significant I expect we will know about it by the end of the week. Really we should probably already know about it. Would be surprised if we trade for anything more than McAdam and a couple of fringe players at this stage.

Much more likely we move our picks around and focus on draft targets.

Yeah theres no secret plan here. We are going to have a boring trade period and try and regenerate our list via the draft.

Doesn't make sense. The ITKs here claim we are after a big key forward, surely some internet slooth knows more than paid journos

Sounds like they’re definitely backing in Petty and JVR to lead the attack in 2024 then, with TMac and BBB again going to be relied upon the event of injury or poor form to either of the starting two. I just don’t know about that. Immense risk there.

I’m happy to take some high quality kids in the draft and I think we need to but surely there’s a workmanlike, durable key forward out there in the Levi Casboult mould who can come in for 1-2 seasons and do a job for us.

Have a feeling that we might drop back a bit next year while we regenerate the list a bit and give some kids more of a crack.

Should have been something we were doing more of over the past couple of years as we're absolutely not ready for the cliff to come for some of our older guys.

The top-tier clubs are great at doing that, but we've obviously been a bit too invested in the flag side.

JVR and McVee certainly got a crack this year, but would've liked to see Howes, Turner, Woey and even Moniz-Wakefield get some burn considering they all play in positions where guys have got games based on reputation (Salem, Langdon, Spargo etc).

If it's a small step back to take a more exciting step forward with some fresh kids in the door, I'll take it. Don't want to waste May and Gawn's last couple of years, but at the same time, if nothing changes they'll be wasted anyway.

I’m not sure exactly which kids are going to get more of a chance to be honest. I don’t think we are flush with kids at Casey who are ready for the next step.

I guess you only know for sure if you give them a chance.

Seems as though the strategy is going to be that we carry 1 or 2 kids each week and hope that they develop.

Our best 22 is probably still around the mark but if we get hit by injuries we are screwed. The cupboard is completely empty depth wise.

We're basically going to need to rely on JVR to take the next step and Petty to come back with no issues, also hope Jefferson can have a big off-season and get in front of Tmac and Brown at the very least.

On one hand you do need to back in your kids to improve, on the other hand we will be left totally exposed if we do need to resort to the most cooked players in the league. But if it means we can invest in midfielders at the draft who can use the ball and find a May replacement and set up our future I won't be too upset even if we go backwards a bit next year. I just think we could have gone down this path and still picked up an upgrade on our key forward depth pretty cheap.

Howes is ready for senior footy IMO, and I hope he replaces Langdon in Round 1 if the latter doesn't have a big summer. Moniz-Wakefield a decent chance too as he improved a heap this year. Turner is ready too, though his best spot is still Lever's role. Woey would give us as much or more than Harmes/Jordon did this year.

I also think that all of the group around our first pick (Sanders, O'Sullivan, Watson etc) would be able to play pretty early. Obviously the dream would be nabbing McKercher, who would come straight into the team on a wing (and rotating inside) initially.

for me both wings are up for grabs and I'll be dissapointed if Howes cant claim a spot over Langdon or Hunter. Hunter had a decent year but I think he's too limited to play on the wing, maybe he could take Salems spot at HB?

Yeah the depth issue is really around our spine. We're in pretty bad shape if any of those guys go down as we saw this year.

Our best 22 definitely around the mark. Add in a fit Melksham and Petty this finals series and we’d probably take it out. We just lacked some straight kicking and a bit of forward craft. Didn’t help Fritsch hurt himself again in round 24 either. Or BBB and Tmac were stuffed with injury. Despite the straight sets we missed a big chance this year.

Don’t mind hitting the draft though. Not likely to have a first pick like this for a few years.

I’ll be happy if either or both of Langdon and Hunter are pushed out by kids and high draftees starting round 1. Hunter has been serviceable but is too slow. Need more energy and speed on the wings.

Sounds like Brown and Tmac are hell bent on sucking everything they can from the MFC with them both cooked, adding no value and likely happy to go around another year while they will give **** all back and struggle to run out a game at Casey.

If they were calling it quits it’s likely we would’ve heard something by now.

Our fault for signing them on stupid contracts.
