This year, we had 36 players on our primary list. We'll lose Hibberd, Dunstan, Jordon, Harmes, D Smith and Grundy, taking us down to 30.

McAdam and Fullarton come in, that's 32. Disco and McVee will be upgraded, that's 34. Two draft picks gets us to 36 again. Upgraded rookies get replaced through the rookie draft.
Plus Kynan Brown.

So 2 draft picks would suggest that we're going to package 6+11 for pick 3. And then use pick 41. So 3, 41. seems underwhelming. I'll wait a bit longer.
Yeah, hold off for a bit. Future picks could still come into it.

Plus Kynan Brown.
Yup, though good chance he goes in the rookie draft. Still, we can draft as little as two, or as many as four.

The level of sooking is incredible, really. At what point do you realise the Melbourne strategy is more effective than the Essendon one?
Maybe ever since we recruited Grundy which many savvy supporters were highly questionable of from the moment the trade went through. I think people have every right to question the recruiting team

That would be a diabolical outcome. Didn't we start the period with 4x picks before 25?

Burned a lot of currency to move up 3 spots.

Dodoro cops a lot of flak (deservedly) but he is taking some big swings with his last trade period: B McKay, Duursma, Gresham, Goldstein

Is Tim Lamb jostling to take the crown of being the stupidest list manager for 2024 onwards?

Out: Grundy, Jordon, Harmes, Dunstan, Hibberd
In: Two state league plodders
Hes not called Pegasus for nil.
-they're paying nearly a million dollars a year for a bang average key defender

  • Duursma is an ordinary footballer
  • Goldstein is a million years old
  • Gresham lol.
Agree.

Lamb and JT are not amateurs.

Still disappointed Oliver isn’t happening. Would have been an amazing chance to rebalance our list.

Instead we are now flogging off our depth for F3rds
Wait 12 months and see what eventuates. Its up to him now in 2024.

Same with Petty. 2023 is not on imv. But next year anything is possible.

Essendon are recruiting for their AFL side.

Tim Lamb is loading up Casey for another VFL flag tilt.
Are you on drugs?

We just traded two not best 22 players for draft capital & to free up cash.

What I don’t get is why we would choose to go to the rookie draft instead of getting ahead and picking up better talent in ND

Surely Melksham gets moved onto rookie draft

**** I know I have expressed frustration at Tmac and Brown going on but Jesus **** who gave them these contracts.

Talk about an anchor on our list. Surely we try push one into a forward coach role on the same coin and get them and salary off our list/cap.

They are deadset preventing us from bringing in youth.

And have done nothing with it!

JT will get to have a youtube video talking a big game about his incoming draftees that will get to play alongside checks notes Laurie, Howes and Jefferson at Casey because they will need a few years of seasoning to be ready for AFL.

What is it with you and coaching roles and Ugle Hagan. :tearsofjoy:

Petty is as good as gone in 2025 when he is a free agent. Either that or his foot is cooked and he will become the next iteration of Tmac.

Trying to get creative to get these blokes off our list.

Ugle Hagen will be a deadset jet. If Petty goes I would put 1.4m x 8 years in front of JUH and toss picks 10, 14 and our F1 to Bulldogs for him.

Draft Curtin at 6 and Wilson at 11.

Or find other collateral and bring in JUH and Reid.

All our current picks ..check notes... are higher than the picks of all those players you named were selected at. If you really think we are going to draft development guys with our two picks I dont know what to tell you. Clearly we are getting at least one player who will play and make an impact early.

Should have just kept 14 and traded 27 and 35 for future picks, allow us to have a strong draft hand next year if we don’t want to take many picks to the draft this year.

Most exciting part of the trade period was Oliver potentially leaving (not that I wanted it to happen), pick swaps and upgrades don't get me excited.

Would take the Fog for Petty tho..

Tough call. If pick 6 was pick 4, then yes. Reid is a flight risk.

4 picks for 1

6,11, ~14(F1), ~28 (Syd F2)

Trade out Petty and use compo on Jamarra with the 1.4M cap space.

Forward line round 1

HF: Reid, JUH, Pickett
FF: Fritsch, JvR, McAdam

Jeffo off the bench.

Forward Coach: Ben Brown

Casey’s 3rds: TMac
