If both collard and moir are on our board who are we taking and why
Moir imo.

Collard is the better prospect for me but multiple rumors coming out about Collard not wanting to leave WA and having a poor attitude. We also don't need another small forward but could use another 3rd tall forward.

Also regarding the others we are linked to. Yes to Wilson and Simpson. No to Edwards and Carroll. And no idea about Wills.

Does anyone know when Duffy’s injury actually occurred? i.e. before or after the final list lodgement date?

When it was reported vs when it occurred could have been different dates

It’s annoying not knowing how many live picks we have!

According to the official AFL list we have 3 live picks.
But yes, it's an absolute joke that things like this aren't communicated clearly by the AFL, and to a lesser extent the Club.

OK, it makes sense that we only found out about Duffy's ACL 4 days ago, the day after Cat B rookies were meant to be added to the list (of which there has been no official announcement).

He only injured his knee on the 1st of ****ing October.

Had there been any other Irish players we had our eye on over there, we could have replaced Duffy with them and reassessed Duffy for ‘25 or later, depending on how he travels rehabbing.

By GCS Academy picks HAW & WBD father/sons picks being chewed up along with all clubs predicted amounts of total draft picks from Cal Twomey’s Phantom draft, the back end picks will come in considerably our current pick 68 could potentially come in another 18/22 spots to 50/46…
Maybe a deal for more future points for a swap of a back ended pick (Cottrell upgrade) this year for an interested club after a particular player still on the board…

You’d think we’d be better to be plucking from here than whatever number we’ll be at for the rookie draft, if there’s a player of interest (and we’ve been linked with some players down that end).

Both boom or bust types. Lots of X-factor which we need. I'm leaning towards Moir only because we have more small forward options then medium types. Though our smalls lack the pace of Collard.

Both have their pros but if the club needs to decide I suspect the decision will be made on character.

Ideally, we get something from WC to slide back a spot if they are that desperate for Collard and we are 50/50.

The AFL Draft Tracker published yesterday has Collard listed as 185cm, where as in Twomey's Phantom today he is listed as 179cm's. That's a fair bloody difference from the official AFL site in consecutive days lol. He's been listed at 180cm's all year, so either a growth spurt of 5cm's , or he's shrunk by a 1cm lol.

If he is now 185, then his leap and marking becomes an even bigger weapon with his separation on the lead. He's suddenly close to Moir and medium forward range and still growing. If he's shrinking at 18yo(which i doubt), then he might be challenging The Wizard soon.

Seriously, geez i hope we can pinch him with an average pick like a late 20's that our 1st will be. Personally i think North will swoop.

Highly unlikely. There would only be maybe 4 clubs picking that late in the draft, and they probably won't need to jostle their picks that much.
Also, at the very most that pick would be worth F4, which will be pretty useless to us given we've already got 3xF4, and won't have the list spots to be able to use those points.

I agree, but don’t we only have 2 senior list spots available considering we are upgrading Cottrell?

Would cost us 80k out of the salary cap, and we'd have to give a 2 year contract rather than 1.
We would have to absolutely love the player, and be pretty sure he wasn't going to slide another 20 or so picks.

Now that it's clear Duffy isn't on our list I'm surprised we upgraded Cotts, given he could have stayed a rookie. Would have given us an extra pick in the main draft.

Makes me think twomey is wrong about us using a rookie draft selection and that we prefer to have players train with us for SPP. If we wanted to take another player now why wouldn't we take a pick in the main draft? Would likely give us access to a player higher up our board then if we wait until Wednesday.

For the record I prefer us picking a player that trains with us through SPP then using a late draft pick. Just don't see why we would bypass a late draft pick and then pick in the rookie draft.

We probably don't rate the draft that deep that we want to give a guaranteed 2 years to the kid we pick that late.

If Twomey says "The Blues are expected to use a rookie selection next Wednesday", then we're probably going to take a rookie pick.

Yeah the 2 year vs 1 year contract would be a consideration. That or we have a mature player in mind for the rookie draft that isn't going to be picked by anyone else anyway.

Great work 99!

Hold on, that’s a huge gap - and Duffy inform CFC? Shirley not!

My guess is that CFC knew, it had to assess the injury & find a way to break the news gentler

So we now got a rookie spot open - so three picks? Or SPP?
