North can basically force the issue. Send someone over and have 2 or 3 interviews with Curtin. Make it plain they have an interest. Then if WCE want him they either have to take him at 1, or deal with North - and it's not likely to be a deal of the magnitude spoken about earlier - more likely a 1 for 2, with a single later pick thrown in, prob around the 20-30 range. Can't see why North would give away more than that, might even be less.
Yep, you'd think that'll be the likely scenario, especially if North get pick 3 for McKay. And if they get gifted Sanders as an NGA, you'd imagine they take Curtin and McKercher at picks 2 and 3.

If WCE are hell bent on getting Curtin, North are in the driver's seat. I can't see WCE trading with the Hawks if they don't have much chance of jagging Curtin, unless it's some godfather offer.

So much to play out. Curtin seemingly prefers the idea of playing midfield. That he could do at West Coast with Barrass and a couple of quality young tall defenders already on the books.

North want a key defender, but let’s not forget Connor O’Sullivan, a bigger body, is in the discussion for top 5 as well. Hawthorn have father/son key defender McCabe likely in the teens to match, so would be a moral to grab Harley Reid if they had the top pick.

With a bit of negotiation/manipulation behind the scenes all parties could be happy.

WC will sell pick 1 to the highest bidder. Even the Demons are a player in this market

I've said it a few times now but Melbourne will be the team to watch in this trade market this year. Lots of currency and more on the way with how desperately Port Adelaide have been with Grundy now.

Could really set themselves apart if they play it right.

Still rate him highly, but with the players you mentioned and the Campo boys, seems unlikely we call out his name if still on the board
He's an elite user of the ball, you can never have too many of those styled players on your list.

It’s a very interesting situation with pick one of this draft but also with McKercher. There’s every chance Tasmania will be looking for him to be the face of their new side with a multi million dollar offer so I’m sure clubs are factoring that in.
If you are trading pick 1 you probably want pick 2 coming back otherwise you move into a group who all have fairly big question marks over them for one reason or another.

I’d just been watching some clips of Finn O’Sullivan and was wondering how did this guy not get invited to a combine?
Recruiters mistook him for Finbar O'Dwyer?

Are WC in a bit of a bind with pick 1? Reid apparently does not want to go to WA and the WA kid the eagles want is around the 2 - 3 mark after the GC academy selection. Why would eagles do a deal with Melbourne if they know north could take the kid with 2 or the potential McKay compensation?

If WC want Curtin, they won't miss out. There could be a deal done, if not already

North might end up with pick 1 and 2, WC with pick 3 and some sweetners

Other clubs will offer up big, picks and players to get a hold of pick 1

So much depends on how WC want to play the game. If they're just after the best deal, no matter where the players come from, then sides like Melbourne and Hawthorn are in the game, and potentially, they could end up with a very good return for pick 1. If they want the best player, they stick with Reid. If they want Curtin, or other specific players, it becomes more of a cat-and-mouse game for them.

Basically, WC need talent all across the field. Unlike say, North, who are already chock full of mids, and ideally would like a Weitering type, or another key forward to help out Larkey.
true about WC needing lots. Sometimes though you have your heart set on someone…North lose McKay they may want the best available big bloke in Curtin and If that’s the case no guarantee he gets to the eagles if north are not part of the trade.

I can't see WC giving up pick 1 for anything other than pick 2. I doubt they'd want to drop as far as Melbourne's first pick in a draft which has a big drop-off after the first few by all reports.

Exactly. And if that is the case, and Curtin is their target, then why bother trading.
Just pick the targeted player with pick #1, or else settle for O'Sullivan and ?

Sounds like Fisher has been offered a deal anyone might find difficult to refuse. Can't see why they're going that strongly, but ...
As long as they pony up the pick(s).
To be honest, I think Fisher has found something in defence that I didn't think he had. But some deals are just ...

North finally landing that big fish.

Clarkson loves a decent quota of lefties. While I think I have more understanding of it than most casual watchers, I am not an expert on their list, but I am struggling to find ANY who stand out. Clarko would have told their recruiters to find a left footed distributor, or three. Thinking this heightens their interest in Fish.

I am certain that is behind Norf seemingly being prepared to “overpay”.

Lefties, McDonald, Curtis, Tucker, Greenwood, Logue

Only McDonald would be classified as a distributor
