I'm probably reading too much into this, but my (pure speculative) guess is that has something to do with his salary.

Hypothetically Fish is on $500k for the next couple of years. And North want to pay him $350-400k.

A three-year contract only puts him slightly ahead of staying with Carlton. The extra years makes it worth him leaving and helps North to smooth out his current Carlton contract.

Would have though North would be front loading the hell out of it…who would be taking up a big slice of their cap?
They would need to spend money to reach the ridiculous 95% minimum a club has to spend

Agree but I reckon we need to address that with a specialist coach rather than trying to draft in kids to help with it. Some of our most senior players have trouble finding a teammate
Is that 'recruit' someone like Barlow?

Even though we got Acres, Hollands and Binns last year, our biggest Achilles heel is run and carry, whether that be defenders who run and carry or forwards who can run and carry.

We are a great contested team but we struggle on transition.
Schoenmaker
Wilson
Collard
Windsor
Philactides
Delean

Probably the best players to help with that in this draft outside of the obvious Watson, Mckercher, Duursma etc

WITG, what about best ball users around our pick
The only really a two 'elite' users in this draft, Watson is the best by hand and by foot imo. Clearly the most skilled player in the crop.

And theres this chubby kid.

He's not a pin point silky kick per cay and he got himself into trouble early in the year for something off field which resulted in a lengthy suspension but he has a genuine cannon for a shoe like not many have. Can kick it 65m with ease and pulls off kicks that plenty are simply incapable of physically doing.

That being said he's prone to the occasional idiotic kick where he looks to be attempting spear kicks inside that he really shouldn't be. Not sure if its his decision making or arrogance/wanting to show off for recruiters.

At 193cm tall, imo he has massive upside as he has all the traits to be a 3rd tall rebounder similar to Shannon Hurn or Matt Suckling types. He's chubby and unfit and imo that helps his cause because it means he has plenty of physical improvement to come in terms of speed and power.

The rest are all poor to good users imo. Some genuine hacks and then some tidy and reliable users but not really types we're talking about such as Coleman, Daicos, Whitfield level users.

I'd say the most similar to Coleman from today in this draft would be Philactides though. He's probably the most piercing run and carry type off half back but quite an inconsistent user and imo only quality when in space. Under pressure he seems to lose composure and im just not an overall fan of his decision making at times.

Unfortunately theres a severe lack of what we're looking for up forward outside of Watson and Collard imo. Collard has a lot of baggage supposedly and clubs will be wary of drafting him to a poor culture due to some of his issues.

We'll need to replace 6-7 players I think. And I doubt more than 2 of them will be from trade/fa.

Will be interesting to see how we get back in the draft.

Personally think we should let go of one of Kennedy or Hewett and potentially Young(Only because theres been rumours other teams are keen)

If both of them could get us a 2nd rounder that opens up a lot of options for us.

Picks for Fisher and Dow will help also.
I'd prefer to keep Dowy than Kennedy but know thats not happening. Doubt we move Young or Kennedy but if it could get us to pick 4 and we were able to nab Mckercher Watson or Duursma I think it would be worthwhile. Mckercher is a special midfielder.

foot skills, foot skills, foot skills.
Elijah Hollands ✅ not sure if we're going to draft at the risk of missing on him should he ask for a trade, but I'd put 15 and picks on the table for him. Then try to get as far up the order for Dow and Fish as we can.

What's the 10-20 range like in terms of quality this year, Arr0w ?

Settle down, he's flopped so far and he's had an ACL.
