With the rumoured changes to bench/sub rules next year to allow 5 on the bench with no sub, reckon I'd be pretty wrapped with this line up going forward

Williams Weitering Marchbank/Kemp
Saad Mcgovern Newman
Acres Cripps O.Hollands
Durdin Mckay E.Hollands
Collard
Curnow Martin
Dekoning Cerra Walsh

Silvagni Docherty Cuningham Cottrell Leake/Edwards

If Charlie Edwards is still on the board at 22 and we slide back, I will hunt down Austin
Not that it means a lot, but PMBangers just posted his latest player rankings. He has Edwards at pick 28, which will likely be our first pick taking into account academy and f/s.

He also has Sanchez at pick 37, well within reach of our second pick.

I can only dream....

Am I correct that if only 3 GC NA bids come before our first, then we'd be at 25?
This means GC 4th NA (Graham) and Bulldogs f/s Croft don't get bids before our pick.
Yep.

But if the 4 GC bids and Croft, and McCabe (Haw f/s) come in before our pick, our first pick will be 28. Our second pick would be 31 (due to the 3 GC picks lost). That's pretty much worst case. There are other academy picks, but all NGA, which can't be matched before 40.

Another way of looking at it would be to say that we have picks 22 and 25, with those six players excluded. So build up your phantoms without those six players and see where we land.

Do we have the option to take 3 selections at draft?
Or does the need to promote a rookie prevent that?
It's 3 plus a rookie elevation. May well only take the two though (given our 3rd is 70).

Yes unless we were keen on someone like the Werribie chap who might otherwise go early rookie draft. 70 probably comes into ~50?
Yep. And there's still a Delisted Free Agency period before the draft. Possible (unlikely) we might pick up someone there.

Most likely, we take our two picks at the draft, wait and see who's left at 70, and if no-one, then look at a Rookie, or save the spot for SSP.

Third possibility is we find a way to move up the draft order with our existing picks and a future pick. In this case, might only take one draft pick and elevate two rookies, leaving two rookie slots open for either rookie draft or SSP.

Going by Austin's actual words and delivery of them, i think it's pretty clear that while he would like to get in "the Top 10 or 12", he is fully expecting to not be able too. Next best option was to turn one good pick after 10-12 into two good picks after 10-12. Because he sees them as all pretty even.

Which we did.

So i think it's fairly safe to assume we will use just our two 20's picks this year. Plenty of nice talent there we can have 2 cracks at.

DeMattia for me ... gives me Hayden Young vibes

In terms of how they play they couldn't be further apart unfortunately. Pretty ordinary user of the footy and more of a junkyard dog type. Think James Worpel with a bit better speed.

Everyone I like magically goes from within our pick range to 5-10 spots too high on Twomey's power rankings of doom

Sad Anthony Anderson GIF

I WILL REMEMBER U MCKERCHER COLLARD AND LEAKE 💔
