Get Shaun Mannagh as a rookie.

26 years old, ready made mid forward. Perfect replacement for Dow.

Kicked 4 in the first half of VFL grand final. VFL team of the year, 5th in the JJ Liston.

Averaged 25 touches and 5 tackles a game and has also kicked 38 goals as a small...
Not sure why clubs don’t do this a little more, when we picked up Gibbons, I thought it showed a real low risk option for clubs, to have a player capable of coming in and having solid output straight away.

Lots and f players at that level could take the next step

Gibbons was a midfielder, we played him as a small forward. If we had given him some extended minutes in the middle who knows what he could have been. Sad really.

Still no idea why other clubs don’t pick the best VFL mid for depth spots.

We look like losing Dow and Fish, our VFL mids will be Carrol and then I’m not sure.

Why not grab the best Lower league mid for injury cover, 5 or so games, minimum wage, who knows they might thrive in the higher comp

Funnily enough, so are we.
Wonder what happened to Lewy in such a short time frame?
Not sure tbh, thought Weiters and him worked quite well together but they were both just out of form late last year/early this season. Then the talk of them not getting along and the ensuing dropping of Young. Personally hope we keep him and he fights his way back into the team but if I'm Youngy I'd be on the phone to Clarko where he's almost guaranteed games such is there KPD stocks.

Please expand. I like Youngy, a lot. He’s the big we miss.

Just rumours that him and Weiters don't get on in terms of playing with each other and that Weiters essentially had him dropped from the team.

No knowledge if thats true or not but made the rounds a fair bit at the time.

We need a tall defender to eventually cover the taller, more athletic key forwards in the comp. If Connor O'Sullivan or Ollie Murphy slide to us, I'd strongly look in that direction.

We need a forward/midfielder with pace and goal scoring nous. Harry De Mattia has pace, versatility and leadership skills. If he keeps the hair, he'll be a cult hero too. Darcy Wilson may even be a better bet. Either look good.

More run from defence? James Leake is right in our area of the draft.

James Leak looks really good from the few highlights lve seen. He’s 188cm and Looks to have really good athleticism with speed and a good leap. I think he could be more than a half back. Could possibly be a good half forward/midfielder, maybe in the jack Martin mould.

Wouldn’t be surprised if he rises to just outside the top 10. If it’s believed he could develop to play half forward/midfield he’s someone l would consider trading up for.

Moving up the draft 5 to 10 places, outside the top 10 is, l believe, realistic.

Given the way we finished this year and having the two Campo boys next year I’m hoping we have a crack at trying to trade next years first to get another late first rounder this year. Having 2x first rounders would give us the flex to either take two talented kids in the late teens or alternatively if there is someone we like having the option of using both of these picks to trade up to nab someone we really rate. Clearly we have most of the prices to the puzzle and adding another 1-2 really talented kids would help a lot. I’m also all for trading the fish pick to acquire Hollands if we can. In Austin we trust.

On a related note - I thought one of the Camporeale brothers is tracking to be a second rounder and the other a third rounder? Can someone confirm?

Obviously things will change in their draft year but I don’t think they are rated as highly by others as we seem to on here

Leake has already started transitioning to a mid/hhf role and has looked very good hence his rising stocks. He reminds me a hell of a lot of Sam Docherty pre ACLs when playing down back. Probably not the neatest or cleanest player going around but he's an extremely powerful athlete and he's brave when intercepting or coming off his opponent which allows him to be aggressive in his play. Doc is a more booming kick and probably more accurate but Leakes no slouch in that department either.

But like everyone, I've really liked seeing him playing through the middle and up forward. Seems to have natural smarts up forward and through the centre which imo is invaluable to us as we've generally lacked a bit of flexibility on our list and magnets we can shift mid game.

Schoenmaker and Leake would be two handy inclusions re that flexibility if we were to get either or both.

This game saw him playing through the midfield and half forward but does anyone else see a young Sam Docherty in the way he moves? Even his kicking action looks eerily similar.

It is absolutely too early to assess where the boys will fit in the draft. They could both command first round spots or slip to the third round or beyond.

In the last couple of months, statistically, Ben has overtaken his more touted brother. At last report Lucas (the leftie) was still playing the classic wing and occasional half back spot. Ben had transitioned to a more inside role, seemingly with success after previously playing outside.

I have not seen enough of their footage to form any firm opinions. Notionally a quality left footed winger to add to the mix would be ideal. We are moving past Fisher, LOB has been passed by multiple players, some variety would be optimal, although our development staff has taken great steps in making more of our players pseudo dual sided types.

I have high hopes for the Campo boys. Realistically I look at our possible list changes next year and see barely three expendable for statutory changes, with likely two or more rookies needing upgrade. With our growing depth on the outside, having Binns in the VFL team of the year, not yet getting a taste, is there a scenario that leads us to overlooking one or both boys?

We need to find a key defender, we need to continue to refresh our midfield mix and that hybrid forward role is a potential need with potentially an ever increasing upgrade of forward pressure types who can hit the scoreboard would be ideal.

We also have a changing of the guard in defence a couple of years away with Saad, Newman, Williams and Doc the same vintage, along with George Hewett who could revert to defence in the twilight of his career. We have Cowan developing, with it unclear if Cincotta and Boyd will elevate from role players to frontliners. Kemp could theoretically be deployed in a higher, rebounding role down the track. Do we have enough defensive pieces in place? Could one or both of the Campo boys become quality half backs?

There are more questions than answers at this stage and this year’s draft is not promising for perfect candidates in our draft range. Son of Curly and his team have their work cut out.

I think there’s no way we overlook either of them.

By overlooking either, you risk alienating the other or the family in general.

I’m sure part of the pitch to the boys, is that they know where they’re going, they get to a good club, they get to stay together and it provides the family with stability.

HBF is one area we are stacked with. Williams coming back, Cowan recruited last year.

Surely there wouldn't be any guarantees to draft both, or any young Campo's at this early stage, their development and our needs for more, slim outside mids should be first priority.

I doubt there’s any guarantees now but later next year I’m sure the boys would want some.

Just my personal opinion but if we are telling them there’s no guarantee we take you, I don’t think either will be happy to nominate us.

If they are good players, there will be list spaces for them.

Cowan is not quick. Williams is injured a lot.

Maybe, but how HBF do you want on the list. Lose Curnow and Dow and we are lacking mids. Honey out means Martin is the only medium forward. Only 1 spare key forward on the list in Lemmey. Plenty of list holes that need to be filled.

We also have 2 irishmen that will probably become running defenders (because that's what most of them do)

It was 3rd on my list of positions. Leake is a utility and does play midfield and half forward as well.

Couldn't agree more - I feel our inability to transition the ball is tied to our system rather than skillset
With Saad, Williams, Doc, and Boyd in the seniors with Binns & Cowan capable of playing the role and showing some promise at the lower level - we're arguably over-invested as it is.
Even taller players in Kemp & McGovern offer some punch and creativity the other way.
Finding a fullback to release Weitering to CHB and forward-mid are far more pressing needs IMO.

Assuming we'll be trading in our future 1st rounder into this year's draft, I'd love to take Tholstrup or Collard as a mid-forward Cunners/Fog upgrade, as well as Windsor or DeMattia as a more balance Dow option.

Darcy Wilson is one who can fit both of those categories, his versatility and x-factor really appeals to me.
