No offence to the kid, but does not have a point of difference which makes me think he'll make it.

Bit like ex-Carlton Rookie Brad Walsh? Huge frame, handy player but didn't have what it took to make it at the top level. I think Stevens looks better and has intangibles to improve. But sounds like there are better options available to us tonight.

On Simpson I looked at a few articles about who the next likely 10 players to get picked and Simpson isn’t mentioned at all. So are we overvaluing him on here? But we do seem linked to him in which case could we do a pick trade (eg a future third) and move down a little and grab him around pick 40 instead?

Arie Schoenmaker seems like a good fit for our defence. He's already a Bluebagger too.

Trying to not get attached to any one player. The only thing more frustrating then the player you want getting taken the pick before you is that player being available and your club passing for someone you've never heard of.

Would be thrilled with Simpson or Edwards. Ok with Roberts, Lual, Jiath, Schoenmaker. Disappointed with Cottrell or Wilson, unless we slide back for points or use a rookie pick.

Not a judgement call on George Stevens specifically, but footy is littered with slow/big inside mids that dominate at junior and/or VFL level but aren't quick/dynamic/clean enough for AFL.

1-30 are straight from CT - figured may as well just use his, given he usually has the inside word.

The rest is cobbled together from a number of sources. No real science to it. Mostly pulled from the RMC guidebook.

Simpson reminds me a bit of Papley in the way he moves, wouldn't be surprised if he ends up playing a lot of forward time early.

Cooper is a gun and a great kid. The media have almost no idea on how tonight will play out. It’s just opinion based and the media generally have NFI. But if I want him u better get in b4 the Freo pick.

If we are looking at defensive run, I'd go Hastie, then Wilson before Carroll.

Carroll is a solid, by the numbers positional defender. Feels like a 4th rounder or rookie pick.

Hastie is a super quick line breaker who probably needs to work on his defensive side a bit more. He's a real 'take 'em on' Saad type. Wilson is quick and efficient. He can rebound and distribute.

Still looking for Simpson above all though. Ollie Murphy or Zakostelsky would be handy coming through the VFL.

I was disappointed to see Saints pick Phillipou 1 pick before Carlton in '22, but Oli has turned out alright.
