Pick 52 - Angus Hastie

Was tossing up between Hastie and Freijah for my second pick so very happy to get him here. Really explosive athlete that allows him to play on a range of opponents down back, his ability to defend sets him apart from the plethora of half backs this year for me. Offensively he intercepts and breaks lines, can attempt to do too much sometimes but I like the endeavour. Some scope to move further afield however his attributes are probably best suited to a role behind the ball.

Freijah has already been taken anyway

Edit: I’m a silly guy, misread the post

*. Back to the drawing board...

Pick 53 Essendon Bodie Ryan Defender Glenelg/ South Australia

one of my sleepers in this draft. Has displayed the ability to both lockdown on an opponent and also provide drive from back six. Is a neat kick, very good in the air and has shown ability to influence game at National carnival and play against men in sanfl reserves competition. I could see this kid fit into our side pretty quickly. He reminds me of Trent Rivers. Interestingly has a close friendship with Ashton Moir which would probably help both settle at the hangar.

I was hoping to pick up Ryan here. The other players I considered were Will Lorenz, Luke Lloyd and Sam sofrinidis as a roughy. However I have liked Ryan more and more as the season has progressed.

overall I was pleased with my selections. I was hoping to nab Taylor goad instead of George stevens and probably should have picked goad and then Ashton Moir.goad reminds me a little of Luke jackson and tests really well with a lot of upside.

ideally the bombers would grab a developing tall in the rookie draft but key position stocks are not great in this draft.

Pick 54 Hawthorn. Nathan Philactides Oakleigh Chargers.
Speedy small defender who has some rough edges but likes to take the game on and use his speed and agility . Plays the game in the attacking style that Sam Mitchell seems to like.

Pick 55 . Luke Lloyd Sandringham Dragons.
193cm forward who plays smart and marks well on the lead and in the contest. Looks to have his forward craft well in order and leads to good spots and his work rate is generally good. Is under the radar a bit as he missed the start of the year with injury and did not play and championship games. Suspect he may well have been talked about more if he was injury free from the start of the season .
