Being spared a trip to the Cattery would be nice. It's as close to a certain loss for us as you can get. Can't remember the last time we missed it. Certainly not often in the last 20 years.

And Port at Marvel would have a nice ring to it.
We've played there 62 times and only won 13 of them.

Last time we won was Round 10 in 1999 (10 points) and we won Round 16 in 1998 by 24 points. Out of the last 20 games we played there, they are the only wins we had.

4 wins since 1978.

Though. What better statement to show we’re aiming to be contenders than going to the feared cattery and beating the reigning premiers at their own ground. Would shut the media up really quickly

Ideal double ups, assuming we get 2 top 6 teams -
Top 6 - Collingwood, Fremantle
Mid 6 - Bulldogs, Port
Bot 6 - Hawthorn

I keep begging for us to get a marquee game for Sir Doug Nicholls Round - St Kilda v Fremantle "Nicky Winmar Tribute"

Make it the stand alone Thursday or Friday night game. Alternate it between the two clubs so that both VIC and WA fans can build it into a marquee fixture. Both teams desperate for a flag and sitting in that middle group trying to bridge the gap. Ross Lyon being back just adds to the story.

Outside of that - Anyone, any time, any place.
Due to the Super Round all teams play 23 games, 17 of those games means you play all opposition teams once, that leaves 6 double ups to get 23. 2023 is a 24 game season including the bye round.

Ross usually saves that for finals.

Problem is they don’t play finals down there anymore
They weren’t even really meant to play that final there which made that win even more monumental.

Port at marvel
No cairns game
No Geelong game
Marquee game v Carlton at MCG (no chance but I imagine it’d get a bumper crowd AND we have a chance of winning this)
Three or Four away at MCG
Two away at marvel
Five or Six interstate
Magic round v Sydney at Barossa

Double ups:

Gold coast
Carlton
Richmond
Melbourne
Adelaide

I predict about 0/13 of this to come true

We are going to get those timeslots at some stage against Interstate opposition, it makes sense to have one early while there's a buzz around for round one.

It's a great opportunity to start the season with a win.
Yes but NM v WCE surely could’ve got that slot considering they were the bottom 2 this year?

The thing that makes the time-slot suck is that none of our fans show up to it. If we can start getting 20k to these types of games then it will make for a good atmosphere and make us hard to beat. Someone has to take the time-slot as for home viewing it's a great time.

Having said that being in regional Vic it rules me out of round 1.

gringo2011 has had some good ideas about building atmosphere and vibe for our home games, hopefully we can start this year.

A good pre season. The Pou showing something in the hit outs with minimal injury concerns and we will be riding some nice momentum into round 1

At least we’re playing at home this year. If we show something in the preseason games you’d like to think we’d have a few people turn up after the buzz that being generated. I’ll be there with bells on!
