So, the AFL isn't releasing the fixture until next month but what would you like to see? How many games at the MCG, how many interstate trips, who will be our double-ups, etc?

Lets start with the report yesterday that we are looking to host Collingwood at the MCG in Round 3 to celebrate our 150th year.

I can’t believe we’re moving another match away from Marvel!!!!!!! Big occasion game we’ll lose

For what it's worth, the last time we played a home game against Collingwood at the MCG in Round 3 we played pretty well. I think that's the game Paddy McCartin broke his collarbone, though.

I wonder how much money that game is worth to us, given it's our home game but tends to be mostly Pies supporters in the crowd. I don't hate the idea - not to earn money, but I like the idea of playing at the MCG.

Was just joking by the way.

I actually prefer how we play at the G. Whenever we’ve been there win or loss it seems we like the dimensions better. We have mostly been a bit shit at marvel last couple seasons. Would have every game at the G if possible.

Ideal double ups, assuming we get 2 top 6 teams -
Top 6 - Collingwood, Fremantle
Mid 6 - Bulldogs, Port
Bot 6 - Hawthorn

I keep begging for us to get a marquee game for Sir Doug Nicholls Round - St Kilda v Fremantle "Nicky Winmar Tribute"

Make it the stand alone Thursday or Friday night game. Alternate it between the two clubs so that both VIC and WA fans can build it into a marquee fixture. Both teams desperate for a flag and sitting in that middle group trying to bridge the gap. Ross Lyon being back just adds to the story.

Outside of that - Anyone, any time, any place.

Bulldogs and Port? Haven't turned up the last two times against the Doggies, three consecutive losses to PA.

I'd rather Carlton from the middle six personally - always mentally suspect.

I think the Dogs are set for a massive fall next year. They've been bursting at the seams, cap wise, and have lost an absolute bull in Dunkley and a starting winger in Hunter. I want us to stack our midfield up against theirs with proper structure and coaching to see where it's at.

At their best I think Steele, Ross, Crouch, Hill, Gresh, Billings, Jones, Windy, Owens and WangMil stack up against Bont, Treloar, Libba, Smith, Macrae... uhhhh McLean? Rhylee West? Ed Richards?

Their top end is elite but their depth will be tested now.

I also think RoMa and Hayes can match it with English and Bruce/Lobb as the back up.

The big question mark is how they set up their backline with Jones, Keath, TOB, Khamis, Darcy and Gardiner. They could swing Bruce or Naughton into defence. Some talk they are keen on Busslinger coming in as an interceptor.

But I think it's a perfect chance for us to really test and see if the issues have been with the list or the coaching.

As for Port - I just want to play them in VIC. It seems like the only way we get that is by playing them twice. Sick of only ever facing them in SA. If we get 1 game against them and it's in VIC, then give us a double up vs the Suns. I want Ross, Harves, Lenny, BJ and big Max getting as much time in front of Ben and Noah as they can :p

1 top 6 twice=collingwood or melbourne, because we played the other 4 twice this year
3 middle 6 twice=richmond carlton port(forcing us to play them in melbourne)
1 bottom 6 twice=west coast,they should be pathetic

give us a game we should lose first up,spare us the disappointment a little longer

Round 1
Saturday Night
St Kilda v Essendon

Yeah the problem with this mooted Pies home game at the G is that if we play poorly in the first 2 rounds, it wont matter how we pump up the 150th celebrations, we'll be outnumbered 2:1 by Pies fans especially if they start well.

Imagine a Saints great making a speech about the 150th birthday of the Club being drowned out by COLLLLIIINGGGGWOOOOODDDD..and it will happen mark my words.

We shouldn't shy away from challenging ourselves. I like it.
