You dont need to be quick through the midfield, not many sides are

Collingwood probably look the quickest side in the comp and they have pendles, Mitchell, Adams and DeGoey running through the midfield. Speed comes from the periphery, sure if you have a dynamic mid its a real weapon but if you go through most teams in the comp, you'll see most of the midfields aren't stacked with express pace.

Yep, now that is a problem bc we had edwards and lambert 2 absolute high speed running machines running through there that we haven't been able to replace yet. Graham runs a lot but he and we need help, thats why Im not against putting Hugo there. He's played half forward before and is an absolute aerobic beast. I dont think we're too far off, just need a one or two quick players to add to the mix and we'll be right. Rioli, Short, Shai, Hugo and Clark are all very quick. Macca, Pickett, Baker and Graham whilst they dont have express pace, they are above average and can run all day. Also our talls in Balta, Gibcus, Young, Broad are all pretty quick. But yeah i agree the balance is off and has been all year - add a Coulthardt and Cumberland in full flight and that's a pretty high octane group.
