2023 Jumper Numbers

These are the jumper numbers they presented today:
Tucker 13
Shiels 14

In the photo, that does NOT look like #14 in Shiels' hands.... Appears to include a 3 as the 2nd number, so either 3, 13, 33.

Sheezel 3
Wardlaw 6
Tucker 13
Shiels 14
Howe 15
Logue 19
George 33
Harvey 37
Drury 41
Free 45

Wardlaw to 6 will help to rehabilitate that storied number, especially with so many kids wearing it at the moment. Sheezel with 3 is also good. The others all seem to be a bit random. Perhaps the only one of any historical interest here is George getting Fruity's number.

Why have rookies been given low numbers
14 will go to Cooper next year.
15 will be free too.
28 ripe for Choppy Jr to take next year.
Plus next year should see 01 and 07 become available. Plenty of chances to move up in 2024

AFL debutants in a <10 NMFC jumper 2000-
Ashley Watson (2003) #1
Daniel Wells (2003) #8
Brad McKenzie (2012) #2
Luke Davies-Uniacke (2017) #9
Jason Horne-Francis (2021) #6
Harry Sheezel (2023*) #3
George Wardlaw (2023*) #6

Gee in the video, Hamish Free comes across as a man unhappy to be at NMFC.

Maybe I'm looking into it too much and seeing something that isn't there...

I thought the same. I am hoping it might just be nerves. He has had a massive few days moving his life across the country.

If he didn't want to be there then he wouldn't be. Some people just don't smile much.
Yeah, not everyone enjoys being the center of attention.

Just look at Wardlaw, looked like his dog had just been kicked on draft night, but the reports from behind the scenes is he knew he was coming to us months out and was ecstatic about it.

I think you probably are. He’s been at the club all of 4 days his head’s still spinning. Plus imagine having to stand up in front of 43 blokes you only met a few days ago, looked very nervous to me.

Just watched - you never know but my gut says there's no problem. It's stressful joining a new work place - I imagine it's doubly stressful in such a high pressure, cutthroat environment like an AFL club. Some people put their guard up and slowly open up. I think the poor guy is just stressed and it'll all be fine.
