This is the thread where everyone thinks Blake Acres and Griffin Logue were robbed of AA selection, I see.

I don’t think Sydney do a Port 2008, but gee that’s a tough one to come back from. Might not be the lock for 1st I previously thought they would be.

1. Geelong
2. Brisbane
3. Melbourne
4. Carlton
5. Sydney
6. Collingwood
7. Richmond
8. Gold Coast Suns
---------------------

1. Demons They're going to be hungrier after a straight sets exit, and even though they're losing Jackson, Grundy will offset (and improve in the short term) that midfield mix.
2. Cats: Always predict a fall off and it never comes. If they can manage their older players like they did this year, should be around the mark again.
3. Lions: They're going to be dangerous, and adding Dunkley+Ashcroft to that mix improves a midfield that relied heavily on Neale.
4. Bulldogs: Should (hopefully) improve on this year. Can see a quick bounce back with an easier draw. Bolstering their front and defense, further development into Darcy and JUH, and actually having Bont back in the middle without injury should propell them back up the ladder.
5. Blues: Yeah the blues aren't missing finals this year. Statistics say every year a team jumps from outside the 8 into a top 4 (See Collingwood this year, Melbourne 2021), and while I predict the blues in 5th I can easily see them finish as high as 2nd.
6. Gold Coast: Ben King comes back with Mabior Chol. It's a suprise pick for the 8, but usually every year sees 2 changes to the top 8.
7. Swans: Usually a team that loses a GF heavily drops off the following year. Happened to the Dogs this year, can see it happening to the Swans this year with a harder draw.
8. Tigers: Should be better with Taranto and Hopper, and shot themselves in the foot with close losses and chokes. They should be higher, but I feel the other 7 will just be better than them next year

Was going to write a bit for every team but I cbf so

9. Collingwood
10. Power
11. Dockers
12. Crows
13. Bombers
14. Eagels
15. Saints
16. Hawks
17. Kangaroos
18. GWS

I realise I lose points because it’s after the Grand Final. My predictions are also based on Clarkson and Fagan coaching in 2023. Nothing personal against any fans. Just my two cents which are usually worth nothing and often are wrong.

1 - Brisbane Lions

They’ve got all the tools. This year and years prior they lacked in the midfield but with the acquisition of Dunkley I think that loosens things right up.

2 - Carlton

Will be the big rises in 2023. Way too much talent on their list, two Coleman medalists, the Brownlow medalist. 5 All Australians. Will have a relatively easy draw you’d think given they finished ninth.

3 - Geelong

Felt disrespectful putting them this low to be honest. I don’t know why they’ll finish high again other than to say they’re just bloody good (obvious call).

4 - Richmond

Still a lot of tools and the one area they struggled in, they’re massively addressing in the midfield. A mid level draw will work wonders for them. They’re my 2023 pick for the premiership, will defeat Brisbane IMO.

5 - Melbourne

They aren’t really linked to anyone that would massively address the glaring issues in their forward line. Petty going forward looked great late in the semi final so it’s a possibility. Can not see Gawn and Grundy working.

6 - Fremantle

They got incredibly tired in the later parts of the season. Natural improvement should help them but their outgoing players I think may balance that improvement out a bit.

7 - Sydney

We’ve seen time and time again what embarrassing grand final defeats have done to teams. They’re very clearly talented enough and I suspect they’ll win enough games to play finals but may take a couple of years to recover from that display.

8 - Gold Coast

It just has to be the year they make it. Rowell should return to the first season form. King will be back, who’s an upgrade on Casboult (who had a great year). Building nicely and I think they’ll play finals.

9 - Collingwood

A good team. Clearly will have a trickier draw and I think another year added to Pendlebury, Sidebottom and an injury prone Adams will leave their midfield a bit bare. Will slide.

10 - Western Bulldogs

Hard to see it next year. It’s a shame because we are losing peak Bont years. Maybe it’s my pessimism, but we aren’t linked to anyone that’s more likely to address the glaring issues on our list. Not being linked to any impressive assistant coaches is a shame too.

11 - Adelaide

I can see them moving up a few spots in 2023. Very excited to see the addition of Rankine. With another pre season into Thilthorpe and Rachele they’ll be a handful.

12 - Port Adelaide

I think it’ll be another similar year to 2022 but in reverse. They’ll make an effort to have a good start and will do that but just don’t think they’ve got the cattle to sustain it. A bit of a boring list.

13 - Hawthorn

Natural improvement in the list but with stiff competition around them I can’t see them moving up the ladder very much. Will be a fun team in years to come though. Mitchell Lewis could finish top 5 in the Coleman.

14 - North Melbourne

I may be in the minority here but I actually don’t mind their list. They’re clearly a bottom 10 list (lower parts of that, as well). Adding another number one pick, with Logue and a committed year by JHF and they’ll win 6-7 games.

15 - West Coast

Just hard to see much improving next year. Their leading Brownlow vote getter in a year where they received the least of any team ever is retiring. Just not optimistic about 2023 but they generally rise very quickly so it wouldn’t shock me to see them move up considerably in 2024.

16 - St Kilda

A very very underwhelming list. There doesn’t appear to be any serious links to anyone that will move the needle too much. The De Goey link looks less and less likely as days go by. If Hill leaves it will put more pressure on Jack Sinclair who will do well to work through it. Sorry Saints fans.

17 - Essendon

It’s hard to have any faith in this team. Their list is clearly better than 17th. They should realistically be aiming for 7-10th but there is absolutely nothing to suggest they’ll go anywhere but backwards in 2023.

18 - GWS

Ugly times ahead for the Giants. A brutal blow to their midfield losing Taranto, Bruhn and Hopper. I don’t think Hill leaving hurts much but they’re not going to be better than they were this year. Very yuk list.

Good trading and a favourable fixture. Playing Geelong, Swans and Lions once and playing North, Hawks and GWS twice
Unfortunately though the Saints came 10th, so it's likely they'll play the likes of the Tigers, Bulldogs, Blues and Power twice

Just like when Dockers came back from a 41 point deficit to beat who in the finals? Oh, wait... The Bulldogs. Chirpy for a guy who barracks for a joke of a club.
Why does the club I support matter? It’s an unbiased view on the season. I don’t think long and hard about your club Mick. I just don’t think they’re very good.

The season that we were 8 and 3 half way through the season and beat the reigning premiers. Must be a shit club to do that, Did Bulldogs beat Geelong during the season?

PS. It matters who you barrack for as you were having a go at the club I barrack for.

But I wasn’t having a go at you because of the club you go for. I was having a view on your club (I didn’t use the words shit club btw). Calling me chirpy and linking it to my club is embarrassing.

You were 8-3 and that was impressive. Last years grand finalists didn’t win a single final in 2022. Your first half of 2022 is irrelevant.

So I shouldn't talk about the Bulldogs first half of the year then?
Knock yourself out. I don’t think your club is a joke or a “shit club”. I think it’s likely to go through a phase of rebuild which is healthy for the club.

I could care less why or what you think of my club. You should try it sometime.

Impossible to make this predicition, i try and make at least 3 before the first game of 2023. Here is my post GF highly emotional first guess for next year.
1. Geelong
2. Richmond
3. Collingwood
4. Carlton
5. Sydney
6. Brisbane
7. Port Adelaide
8. Melbourne
——————————
9. Fremantle
10. Gold Coast
11. Adelaide
12. Western Bulldogs
13. St.Kilda
14. Essendon
15. GWS
16. Hawthorn
17. West Coast
18. North Melbourne

At this stage i give teams finishing 13-18 no hope of making the 8.
