You may have left a name off the Forwards , FootyGuy13
Legit thought you were making a joke about people wanting to put Petty in the forward-line now that he's had to be put in the defence.

Despite my ham fisted way of letting you know , and knowing there are plenty who wouldn’t miss him , Brown is on our list . It’s a fun thread so carry on 😀

New here so not 100% sure how this setup works - BUT - I would actually have had Gawn as an option for the forwards as I have a sneaky feeling he might play more forward than ruck (or back), with Grundy being primary centre ruck. Apparently at the player sponsor event on the weekend it was mentioned Choco was goal kicking coach now and has been working his magic on Big Max with Harmesy telling punters he was backing the skip for 35+ snags this year.

* me this is hard.

Legit the only two blokes I don't have question marks over are Slick Fritsch and Mozzie Kozzie.

Jacob Van Rooyen - Will potential translate to impact?
James Harmes - Can he be more than a tagger that drifts forward?
Brodie Grundy - Marking and scoreboard impact?
Charlie Spargo - Can he consistently impact games?
Bailey Laurie - Will he make the jump?
Jake Melksham - Cooked?
Josh Schache - Can he be more than a backup tall/ruck?
Matthew Jefferson - Will he stand up in a stiff breeze?
Blake Howes - Make the jump?
Tom McDonald - Cooked?
Joel Smith - Can he stay injury free? Show more than bursts?
Alex Neal-Bullen - Is hard two-way running and 'holding space' enough for us to kick winning scores?
Tom Sparrow - Can he be a forward that has bursts through the middle (I think he can)
Kade Chandler - Can he translate VFL form into AFL impact?
Oliver Sestan (r) - Is he Jako mkII?
Taj Woewodin - Will he make it?
Andy Moniz-Wakefield (rB) - Will he make it?
Ben Brown - Cooked?

I think TMc has one more good season in him, if he stays injury free.

I like Gawn playing ruck/pushing forward; and Grundy, when on ball, play ruck/dropping back.

I want Chandler playing (especially if Pickett will be playing more midfield), but I've gone:

HF: Spargo - McDonald - Neal-Bullen
F: Fritsch - van Rooyen - Pickett

I am the same they really need to give Chandler a shot and Van Rooyen.

I would be surprised, when this is finished, if McDonald Fritsch and Pickett are not in everyones team.

Grundy because I have bought into the idea he will be playing Forward and taking on all Forward of centre ruck contests.

So that is my (starting) six:-
Chandler - McDonald - Fritsch
Pickett - Grundy - Van Rooyen

Ben Brown is not cooked, he's not even semi-cooked. He's just warming up baby, he's gonna EXPLODE this year and I'm gonna rub it in everyone's face.
I smell COLEMAN MEDAL BABY!!!!

I'm going 100% the opposite re: Gawn and Grundy.
Gawn worries me when pushing back, when we are under pressure, he often knocks our talls over.
I like it when Maysie is on his feet.

Grundy might we a we bit better below his knees then maximus when down back with a loose ball situation.?

If anyone votes for Melk we'll know Goody is on Bigfooty
The first 2 months is the best time to get games into kids before we settle the team.
So I expect to see JvR and Chandler get some early.

Also they will try if possible, to get Melk in early days, if he's in form... he played well last year, toward the end. And his experience would be useful around the kids.
He needs 6 to get there. I think he'll struggle toward the back end of 2023.

Someone voted for Schache? What a dystopian outlook of a future in which our forwardline plumbs depths never before envisaged by mankind
I take it your not a fan of JS. Some were doubters of Pederson as well.

To rest BBrown, keep his games tally light, early season.

Scache to bring the ball to ground, or to shield JvR going for the mark. He has the height (201cms) JvR doesn't.

I chose Chandler. Too talented for VFL. Can find the goals and can run through the midfield if needed. We have to put games into him. More than likely is the sub or at best starting bench, but i really hope he gets some serious games this year. The last few spots are hotly contested so hopefully that means our worst 6 continue to improve

From all reports suggesting Brown is having a great Pre-Season whilst kicking bags in the Intra Games i would say he gets the nod over JVR early

HF - Sparrow, McDonald, Pickett
F - Gawn/Grundy, Brown, Fritsch

Fritsch and Pickett are automatic selections. Spargo too, for his ball delivery I50.

Sparrow gets the flick. He is not a forward, he is better suited to being Viney's replacement in the middle. Swapping him for Harmes, he can take a grab and knows where the goals are. Sparrow can sit with Rivers on the pine.

And for our tall forwards, I am going for a premiership duo of Ben Brown and T-Mac. I think they will combine for 15 goals for the year!

Stiff to miss out: Chandler and JVR. By all reports they are both playing well at Casey (I don't follow VFL). Chandler seems to be on the cusp of regular AFL games given how many times he has worn the sub vest. JVR looks small so I would only bring him in if one of Tmac or BBB are having a stinker.

I just think our forward line is too small if we play 3 of Pickett, Spargo and Chandler in the same game.

Schache does not get a look in at a regular forward spot. Guys at their third club rarely figure it out. I think he might be OK if the interchange is expanded and we need a 200cm bloke to help in the ruck or stand under the ball in the forward/back line. I hope he is a serviceable player and has a Pedo-esque like resurgence.

I have not given up on Brown, though I did not vote for him in this poll. I can see him on the interchange bench or being rested a bit to manage his knee.
