Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Do we have a spreadsheet or table somewhere that has the board's best guess at how much the players are being paid?

Very interesting.
If he is valued at that, that’s two first rounders this year and perhaps 2 future firsts?
Geelong’s hand sucks, probably will throw in players.

No way would touch that. He’s a must have and key for the premiership

They don't. Article is bullshit. No one's paying Darcy 1 million a season for 5 seasons.
I'd believe they are offering that. Darcy is the best actual ruckman in the league and you pay more to get a player out of a club. I also dont believe it will matter and he'll stay on a lot less

Are you even allowed to offer players deals in contract for another 18 months? I'd be calling it more a discussion if it's even true.

Definitely, would happen all the time given how players leave in contract. If it's not "offering a contract", it's telling them we'll pay you this much over this many year

What they'd be doing is offering him $750k per season and then a million or two in property deals outside the cap. It seems clear to me that is how they operate with Dangerfield, Hawkins, Cameron, etc. As if Hawkins only gets 300k from them. Pull the other one.

Property is such a perfect rort, as valuations are subjective. Especially in large rural properties. Very easy for them to stitch up some massive perks that can't even be questioned by the AFL. Happens all the time. My neighbour passed and the kids sold the house for 25-30% unders because they couldn't be bothered fixing the place up for a fraction of that. Down on the surf coast and inland, you could easily find a player a 3 million dollar property that they end up paying 2 million for.

Cameron gets a new tractor, and an extra cow slipped into his herd every month.

We are losing the cheap house discount through Alcock moving on

Any other ‘legitimate’ business advantages we can offer moving forward?

Love West laudering rumours by citing their own columnists. That's not how it's done guys.

This is actually how 90% of media is done - mainstream anyway. It is great for backlinks and SEO. Plus no one has the time to look into the ownership of all these groups to see what is happening.

No the point is you cite other rumours from other organisations. I.e. 'it has been reported'. Citing your own opinion columns is idiotic.
