Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Darcy is one I nearly highlighted for that reason but the thing is, I'm not convinced Jackson will be as good as a pure ruckman as Darcy so while we could comfortably "manage" with Jackson as the number 1 ruck (at least by the time Darcy is out of contract), I'd want to keep him.

I personally think that Darcy absolutely loves it here and he's not the type of guy to chase extra cash anyway.
If Jackson can produce that incredible 10 minutes on GF day 2021, he’s an elite ruck. But still he hasn’t proved anything. Still back Darcy around the ground.
The Victorian gang- Serong, Bradshaw, Darcy- love the club. They’re diehards to win a flag for Fremantle. They did the opposite to Cerra.

2 of them were vic country, one was vic metro with a family history in WA. Cerra was the prototypical pea-hearted vic metro mummy's boy

Mate, we freaking traded in three WA born, bred, produced, babied, developed boys. 3 years later they leave.
I’m loving these Victorian warriors that bleed purple.

Another list management discussion point since I'm avoiding work like the plague here. A magical genie ****s out of the air and gives you the option to immediately swap Amiss and Naughton, yes or no?

Could we mix it up a bit, If that genie “hypothetically traded Cox to Adelaide”, would you use the current to get DGB, or would you slide Jackson to chb and go get Logan McDonald ?

I'm not entirely sold on DGB so I'd want him to be a fair bit cheaper than Cox, pretty much the same thing in reverse though so it's a good question.

Ross just threw them to the wolves and delisted any mature aged midfielder.
I like this development path for Erasmus and Johnson. Still play against men in the WAFL, push for selection and when they do they’re protected by an elite midfield.
Weren't there people at the time saying we ****Ed their development by not giving them enough midfield minutes?

At the time we had Mundy, Fyfe and Neale as experienced mids so delisting a bunch of B and C Graders probably made sense. I probably would've kept Barlow a year or two longer though tbh.

Yeh I’d agree, I wonder if a
McDonald , Amiss & Treacy forward line could function together?

Also just realized I said “hypothetical” when referring to a genie that is making magic trades haha

The genie is real (he goes by Wallsy), the trades are hypothetical

I would go all in for Taylor from GWS if for reason Cox decided the grass looks greener in SA.

off topic, but wasn't there a study that proved that due to the way in which grass grows, and the angle at which it's viewed, it was proven that given two equal lawns, the one on the other side will always look greener?

I'm taking the glove out of my pocket and slapping them.

Whole lot of top 10 players being tradeable… for other teams …. Top 10 players. Let’s leave hypotheticals exactly as they are.

Fwiw Amiss for naughton is a strong no from me. Naughton can mark but will be in dogs backline by 2025. Amiss is comparable to WC Kennedy. 12 years of 50+ goals a year in purple.

Taking the magic genie out of it, if Naughton had asked for a trade to us last trade period and Dogs said, straight swap for Amiss is the only thing we’d consider, you’d say no?

If we had Naughton this year, where would you be backing us to finish?

Well...if we're talking impossible scenarios...

I reckon we'd go gangbusters if Taberner played every game after a flawless preseason, along with Amiss, Treacy, Sturt and Switkowski all being 100% fit, 100% of the time and hitting their potential-arcs at the highest possible point...

I think there is a value in retaining players you have drafted and who are fit for purpose (Amiss). I also think there is some downside in trading in players whose motivation is at least in part a bigger contract.

Most trade outs should be at the players request rather than the clubs. That usually is for family reasons (Cerra, Weller), more money/better contract (Logue, Hill, Weller, Neale), better opportunity (Clark, Tucker, Logue), being disgruntled (Maybe, Lobb).

I'd be pretty sure of top 6 given a good injury run.
I think i'd be expecting top 4, I mean, if Amiss kicks 50 goals this year (what I'd expect Naughton to kick) and we dont make top 4, then something has gone pretty wrong somewhere.

I know and expect discussion on the board to be very purple coloured (which is awesome and what its for) so I suppose I just wanted to poke the bear =)
